Leaving Epcot

We are planning to eat at The Garden Grill at Epcot one night during our Sept. trip.
Our reservations are for 5:40pm.
Do you think we would have time to eat, leave Epcot & get to FW in time for the Chip & Dale Campfire Sing-Along at 7:00pm?

They light the campfires at 7:30. The sing along with Chip and Dales starts at 8:00. The movie starts at about 8:40. You should be able to make it there by bus.

Cool!...Does it always begin at this time in Sept.?
Should we check w/ FW that day to make sure it will be held at that time?
I heard that that times can vary w/ daylight savings time.

Thats the times it was last year when I was there. I will also be there this year in september so I just checked the time and it was the same. The times change when daylight savings is over.

I would allow at least 1 hour for the meal (we eat fast), then walking to the bus stop another 15 min. , then up to 20 mins. waiting for the next bus, then the bus ride (? mins.), then getting to the campfire from the bus stop (? mins.) So that's at least 2 hours from the time you get seated for your meal.

If you are worried about getting to FW on time, you could also "check in" at the Garden Grill a little bit early. We have done that before for ADRs. They usually tell you to check in with the "reservation counter" about 20 mins. before your ADR time. Seatings are done on a "first come, first seated" priority from when you check-in (I think, that's what I've noticed at least). We have gotten seated right away when we went (20 mins. early). Of course there are only two of us, a party of your size (6 isn't it?) may be different.

Of course, all of this will also effect your plans to see the Water Pageant and Wishes.

We eat at the The Garden Grill often on our trips and I really can't see you getting to FW on time. Especially if you want to do the charcter thing it takes awhile for them all to come around.

Can I ask why your doing both? Mickey's Backyard BBQ includes a full Buffet... a pretty decent BBQ one too.

Are you guys just not a fan of that food? It has pretty good offerings:
From allears.com

Edited to Add: I found the offical meal times to be listed at 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Edited again to Add: Amost every review I read on Allears.net said to get there early inorder to get a good seat by the stage. They open the Doors at 6pm to let people in...
They are going to the campfire program, not the Backyard barbeque.

I'll post "correct" information now...

Official fire lighting starts at 7:30p... Sing-along at 8:00p... and the movie at 8:40p. There is an official Movie schedule available online but currently only for the month of July. S'more kits are available at the Concessions stand to purchase.

From my personal experience with traveling to FW... its a LONG trip. By the time you make it out of the Land Pavilion, out of the gates, wait for the bus, bus ride to resort, SWITCH buses at resort (FW bus system is not like other resorts) and walk to the pavilion... it's a long journey!

Have you checked to see if there are any earlier eating times at Garden Grill or decided to eat lunch there instead?

I did think about checking on an earlier ADR at The Garden Grill.
If you cant get an earlier adr before you go, then once you are in Epcot that day stop by and see what they can do. We had 1:30 reservations there in April....we stopped by at 11:00 and asked if they had an earlier time. They said they were booked, but we could check in anytime before our adr and be seated within 15 minutes. We checked in at 11:25 and were seated at 11:30. There is no gaurentee that they will do this again, but it would be worth stopping by and asking.
