We are leaving tonight for WDW for a conference I have there starting Tuesday. Driving from Texas. So far we have successfully kept it hidden from our kids (3 and 7). Will be the 3yo's first trip, and the 7yo's 3rd. We are packed, but planning on packing the swagger wagon after the oldest is in bed and after he's been asleep about an hour quietly load both in the car and leave. Think we can make Mobile or Biloxi by the time they wake up.

Not sure if we will tell them what we're doing when they wake up or keep them guessing. Either way should be fun.

We will be doing the same thing to our kids this August. We are going to tell them that we are going on some Florida beach vacation (only so they are not suspicious when we pull into the Florida visitor center) and let the Welcome to Disney sign be the big surprise. They keep asking if we are going to Disney and we just keep telling them that we cant go till next year. I am so excited.

Definitely keep the surprise as long as you can. We made the drive from the Houston area to WDW last August and our girlies had no idea where exactly we were going until the Maingate was in view.

And yes, we lied to them. :D We didn't give them an exact destination, but I hinted towards Sea World since they had just been to WDW 8 mos earlier. They'd been to Sea World San Antonio and I kept hinting that there was a park like that in FL. They were thrilled when they found out we were actualy going to WDW. Thankfully our kids are a little bit younger and couldn't read well enough to see all of the signs making reference to Disney.

Oh, and on our first day driving we went from about 25 mi S of Houston to Daphne, AL (i.e. eastern side of Mobile Bay).

Have a great trip!!!

This is very cool. Let us know how it went when they realized where they were going and how far you got when the finally did realize it...(Welcome to Disney sign? lol)
