Not yet. I'll put it together.Guys, it's two days past the due date. Have you got everything ready?
Here you go...
Land 6: TomorrowlandThe land of the future...to be honest, doesn't really work well. Modern-day Tomorrowland seems to be focused more on science-fiction. But, here's what I'd like to see from you.
![]()
And that's all for now.
- A whole new backstory. Give your Tomorrowland a backstory unlike any other Tomorrowland.
- Space Mountain. I want you to make this top all other versions of the iconic coaster.
- Ride based upon Disney science-fiction property. I don't care which--Tron, Toy Story, Lilo & Stitch--just try to adapt it to a wonderful ride format.
- Star Wars attraction. It can be Star Tours or original.
- Modern-day take on beloved EPCOT Center attraction. You can choose from Horizons, World of Motion or Journey Into Imagination.
- Two shops.
- Two restaurants.

Well here's the deal. Of course the first thing that comes to mind is tomorrowland. Make tomorrowland the tomorrowland from the movie right? Well that can't happen. Given the current guidelines I wouldn't allow for this land to be filled with IP. However I do have plenty of Epcot revival ideas (one I do quite love direct from tomorrowland itself) and others. When I first read this task and given the guidelines of having IP attractions, I immediately thought of the space port from treasure planet. Terminals to different realms? Just a start.Well, how are we going to do the backstory first of all? I'm drawing a blank other than a secret SEA base.
Problem with an inverted coaster is theming and story implication. Give me a darn good reason why it works and we can do it. But we're not universal, can't just let it slide.Should we have Buzz? I like Buzz.
Also, I've tossed around the idea of making Space Mountain an inverted coaster before. Maybe we could try that?
I like that idea. That's how you'll be able to fit IPs feasibly into the story, perhaps. My original thought was to go back to the Epcot City concept...however just call the land "Project City" instead of Tomorrowland.Well here's the deal. Here's the thing. I do adore the idea of an Epcot style land. But here's the problem. We need to figure out where to draw the line between fantasy and reality. Obviously most IP will be fantasy and Epcot will be factual. If we can create a blend of this then it'll work. I think for our Epcot ride we need horizons. Not only is it the best ride ever, it encompassed all of Epcot in a factually based but fictional ride. Horizons nailed that blend. I think we should look to horizons for our land. I do like the idea of project city. Are you thinking like an EPCOT (the city) idea more? How would Star Wars/IP fit in? Again with space. Give me justification for an inverted system and I'll approve.I like that idea. That's how you'll be able to fit IPs feasibly into the story, perhaps. Inside "Project City" we could have the Peoplemover, Monorail, maybe the WDW Railroad goes through an indoor "vortex" of some kind and gets a sneak peak at an attraction?
We could make Space Mountain inverted...but not have it go 65 mph...the original Space Mountain only goes like 28 mph but it feels like you're going so much faster.
We could create a new ride vehicle that adapts the SDMT "swinging cars" with the inverted coaster feel, that wayon the turns your feet swing out and even though on our ride you'd only go 30 mph or so...it would feel so much cooler especially in the dark.
In terms of IPs...I could tackle Star Wars...unless anyone else wants to...a dark ride for Star Wars would be neat. And I'll turn to you as the Epcot expert...which Epcot attraction should we bring over?
Epcot the city is a fantasized dream of the future, that never actually happened. Here's the thing. I do adore the idea of an Epcot style land. But here's the problem. Well not really. Epcot was more the past, present, and future of technology. They predicted a lot. It really wasn't very fantastical except for imagination. Which was inspirational more than informative. My dream would to make tomorrowland (which is very similar to epcot) a showcase of technology and ingenuity. How that'll work into IP? Not sure. That's why I proposed a more fantasy type land with factual rides.Epcot the city is a fantasized dream of the future, that never actually happened.
The difficulty in this challenge is the notion that you need to include IPs with Epcot rides in a Tomorrowland setting.
Perhaps we go with Tomorrowland the film, as the IP and in our story, Tomorrowland is the neighbor city to Project City
That's Epcot - the park you're describing.Well not really. Epcot was more the past, present, and future of technology. They predicted a lot. It really wasn't very fantastical except for imagination. Imagination is great and all but that's all it was. I'm guessing by saying this your suggesting our project city be more fantasy than factual? Personally I love theme parks based on edutainment. Like having a tomorrowland (like the one in the movie) filled with future/emerging technology to get people excited about the future, whilst enjoying themselves. That's Epcot - the park you're describing.
I'm talking about the Project City design, the city of the future, based very much in a vision/imagination of what the future would look like.
I also agree on Imagination with mickeyfan as the attraction to pull over. Horizons is great and all...but if you want a tomorrowland to be a "fantasy type land" than Imagination is the best carry over from Epcot.
I'm fine either way.Imagination is great and all but that's all it was. I'm guessing by saying this your suggesting our project city be more fantasy than factual?
You're Exactly right. I was also thinking of like a futuristic space port idea. Space mountain being like the hub. Or sort of a space center exhibit area with attractions or ports to other destinations. But that rules out anything truly factual as far as that goes. I really have an imagine of kind of steampunk futurism in mind though. This is a really tricky thing. I guess I just need to understand where the balance of factual and fantasy is gonna be.I'm fine either way.
But based on the challenge requirements it's really hard to fit IPs into a "factual" based land. It would feel like a mess of theme if on one side there's an IP, but on the other side there's Horizons.
At least with Imagination, we can alter the script to fit our land, whereas Horizons was perfect, but wouldn't fit in the story of the land
very true. i was inspired by Paris disneylands design really. We could make it another SEA based land. The amount of gags and references that could be put in to a mad but jolly steampunk inventor's home similar to how Mystic Point in Hong Kong is Henry Mystic's home.
