It sure was worth a credit but it fall far short of the other Signature restaurants. I'd head to Yatchmen.

Oh man- I hope this place is good. My wife and I are going there for our third anniversary next month. We went to Bistro de Paris last year and didn't love it. Would le cellier be romantic, delicious, and special enough for an anniversary dinner?

People love it or hate it. If you loved it there when it was one credit...then it's worth it. I have yet to have the signature version yet. If it's anything like it was before then I do not care because we love Le Cellier. We'll pay or use the credits. If it's bad then obviously not. It's all about how much YOU like it and what you're willing to "spend" to enjoy that.

Yes. It's dimmed and pretty quiet for a Disney World Restaurant from what I have experienced.

We do Le Cellier every trip and love it pay OOP, the appetizers alone are wonderful. Tried the lobster mac and cheese, and LOVED it! Never had a bad meal or bad experience!!! To us, its definately worth the $$$$

I think if you are paying out of pocket it is worth the price! If you are losing/using 2 dining sit down credits, it is not! We use the TiW card and order steaks and dessert, drink water and the kids get kids meals with a $2 surcharge to get a steak and it is fantastic! However, I would feel bad losing the chance to eat at a second sit down meal if I had to spend 2 dining credits for that! Now that the appetizer and tip arent included in the DDP, you pay less out of pocket to eat there than the value of 2 sit down meal credits! Just my 2 cents though!!

No, it isn't. It's a good place to eat, but nothing special. Never was. The food is waaaay too salty, too. Most Disney food is too salty, but this place is ridiculous.

Romantic - could totally be. Delicious - depends on your taste. Anniversary - depends on the delicious part, I guess. Good luck! :)

Nonononononononononononononononononononono!!! No!
The food is not bad by any means it's just that there are better places to get a great steak on property (Shula's, Yachtsman). We ate there a few times when it was a one credit but wouldn't think about spending two credits on the place. It is romantic except the tables are close together it loses that romantic feel. I think LC is on e of those place where the reputation has fueled the fire of why people go there. But that's my 2 cents.

Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! I failed to mention that we are not doing the DDP on this short trip, so the bill will be OOP. You've all given me a lot to consider....I may check around and keep my options open for dinner that night.

Thanks!

We really love Le Cellier, but not as a signature, thats for sure. I personally dont think any restaurant on Disney property is worth 2 credits per person, unless free dining w/a paid upgrade were offered. We pay OOP, but know its going to be expensive. I honestly have never had a bad meal here and actually look forward to Le Cellier each trip IF we can get a ressie LOL

Agree 100% about the 2 credits.

I don't do the DDP, but if you look at it from the standpoint of If a "regular" restaruant is worth 1 credit, is any restraruant double the value of a regular restaruant - then the answer is no.

As for is it worth it out of pocket?

No. Cheap steaks, crowded as hell, and cheese soup and a soft pretzel? That's something special? Really? Nah, they can keep their bland beef and baseball stadium quality appitizers. If I want a ploughmans lunch, I'll go to a bar and pay $10 for it.

I think we may try Yachtman's this year, on @sgtmgd 's suggestion. But I really did enjoy the lobster mac and cheese appy at Le Cellier last year

I have not tried the lobster mac & cheese, so I really cannot comment on that. But it seems to me to be in same boat as surf & turf. Take two things that have no business being together on a plate and put them on a plate soley because they are rich and expensize. Mac and cheese is good and also rich, so adding something else rich, like lobster must make it better. Maybe it does, what do I know. I know that if I had mac and cheese and someone wanted to "seafood it up" I think squid or octopus (or if you want to get expensive cuttlefish or abalone). then there is a contrast in textures going on. Maybe I have to try that now. Squddymac. Just remember, you heard it here first.

I have to be honest, when DH ordered the lobster mac and cheese, I was VERY skeptical, then very surprised. It was definately huge chunks of lobster, and the cheese sauce had a very heavy wine taste to it, very, very good. As far as the steaks go, it's hit or miss in our experiences, however never not so terrible that I wouldn't go back. I do have to recommend you try it though. Definately worth it, IMHO

Always an interesting topic the DDP is.

We use it as Ive stated in several posts...probably the Military and Technical planner in me...I just prefer to have it all paid for up front...(I'm a rare fiscally responsible Democrat...lol) I do dissagree with Dave's assertion that there are no worthy 2 credit restaruant...Yachtsman is a great example..the steaks are far from "cheap" from a quality standpoint. I have eaten at several excellent Steakhouses around the Country and I put the Yachtsman right at the top. It has also won awards for it's steaks. Perspective is key as all of us know Disney is expensive. The quality of food served at the Yachtsman is head and shoulders above the Captain's Grille that sits next to it...which is a good place to eat in it's own right. The Salads, sides, apps are a far cry from any bar food I eat...just my opinion whic matters not in the wide scheme of Disney lore..

We pay OOP and think it is over priced. Last time we went the $43 filet was definitely not worth the price, not the $43 rib eye at Yachtman was worth every penny.

If it's anything like the lobster mac & cheese on DCL then it's amazing!! I was leery about trying, but the server brought me a sample and I had him bring me the whole plate.
