laundry

There are 3 of us staying for 7 days, 6 nights in August. I have never packed that many clothes for my daughter and me. My husband is also a big sweat-er.

We are staying at Pop Century. How easy is the laundry room? I realize this might take a good 2-3 hours out of my day/night, but trying to figure out how much to pack, or try to do some laundry mid-week.

Any advice is appreciated.

The laundry rooms are right next to the pools, so if you'replanning a swim anyway, you can do your laundry then too (just switch it out as soon as it's done so you don't tie up the machines).

the thing I'd worry about with that plan is how many other guests plan the same thing. All it takes is a few guests who then choose to use as many machines as necessary to do their load all at once and you're then shut out to start doing laundry until a machine opens up watching them like a hawk and going "dibs" if anyone else enters the room. It might not be that bad but it'd stink if it were.

We have only done laundry at port orleans. We did it in the evening and the laundry room was pretty busy, maybe the afternoon would be a better time when families are in the parks.

We also took our own tide pods, and it worked really well!

Be aware to that the machines only take credit card and not coins (atleast at port orleans it was this way!)

We did some laundry at POP last time. Having little kids you need it. We tried to limit our stuff to one or 2 washers. It was pretty fast. We always take a midday nap/swim so I took the kids to the pool and my wife did the laundry. Probably do the same again just to save on packing space.

We did laundry on several stays at ASMu and at FWC. I went in the mid-day and it wasn't too busy. What we take with us are folding mesh laundry totes, they have a really flexible wire in them so you can fold them and then they kind of twist up into a circle so they fit back into your luggage. All dirty clothes go in them so the room stays neat and then you can just haul them to the laundry. We purchased them at Walmart (if I remember properly) and they were like 5-6 bucks each. We have used them now for 4-5 years on every trip and in our RV so they are quite sturdy. As they are mesh if they get a little smelly I just spray them with Lysol and problem solved.

We've done laundry at both CR and Poly. Last year the CR machines in the garden wing were tied up by one person using 5 or 6 washers. The dryers were so inefficient that nothing was drying. I called the front desk and asked where the nearest coin-op laundry was located. Ten minutes later the night manager at the CR said she would have all our clothes dry cleaned by the next day so we did not have to leave the property. True to her cc word , they had all our laundry dry cleaned and back in our room the next afternoon. On a previous trip to the CR, I packed a rolling suitcase full of laundry and took monorail together Poly and asked to usr their laundry room. It wad like 7:30 in the morning and completely empty. It's also cleaner and nicer than the on at CR or at least it was at that time.

Plan on needing quarters at Pop, just left there a week ago
Also really liked at POFQ they have new machines with a credit cards only feature.

We did a couple of loads of laundry at CSR this last trip and it was no problem at all. Only one other person was using the facility. I believe it was $2.50 for each wash and dry, soap was a buck. I could have saved us a few bucks if I had read the description of our off-site accommodations, though. It had a washer and dryer in each villa and one free detergent package. Oh well.

I love doing laundry at the resort, so much less to do when we get home. At the GF they had machines in every building so when I went for my 5am coffee (that's my mommy time) I threw a load in. Nothing life fresh linens during a hot weather week.

Here comes the best advice regarding laundry... here in town the local laundry charges $1.00 a pound. It comes back folded and on hangers ready to be put away. Money well spent - I hate doing laundry.
Check out your local laundry. I guarantee you'll get hooked!

You should have thanked her for the offer and then gone to a coin laundry. She probably paid for that our of her own pocket.
I said thank you and told her it was not necessary, twice. Look at the dry cleaning prices next trip and you'll know there was no way that came out of her pocket. I left A handwritten thank you note for the CR general manager. I have no problem with my decision.

I had to do 1 load of laundry at ASSports because it was all wet from Kali River Rapids. I thought it was as bad as downtown Altoona. 2 out of 6 washers were broke and it turns out, there was no hot water. I saw a maintainance CM outside and I told him politely that maybe the pilot light is out and there was no hot water. It turns out he was not very intelligent, did not understand "why do guests need hot water" and I had to speak to his boss over his microphone he had on his shoulder. Finally, I was able to get the clothes in the dryer. They did use coins at the time. So I say try not to do laundry at Disney. I would think a deluxe resort like Contemporary would have better guest laundry but the above suggests not. Disney, please consider getting Speed Queen washers and dryers that may hold up better. The Whirlpools they had looked pretty beat up.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

Wanna run a successful business and live near the mouse? Offer a resort pick up/drop off wash/dry/fold service.
HMMMM. I wonder if that's been tried before? There a a number of potential pitfalls to such s venture, but an intriguing idea.

We always plan a laundry day during our trips (2 weeks @ CBR). We go middle of the day and never had an issue. I will agree the dryers are not the best, but our whites are usually dried completely and the darks we just spread the hangers out (mostly polo shirts) or drape over chairs. Last I knew CBR used coins.

I actually look forward to it as a 'forced' down day - get to relax and enjoy the scenery of CBR. Sometimes I will go to the beach while waiting and read a book - very relaxing.
