Laundry on the Ships?

I will be sailing on the Fantasy, and I'm going through all my pre-trip planning trying to come up with my packing list.

One thing I do when I go to Disney World is that I have a very clear and now consistent system of doing laundry. That might sound odd, but...well...there it is.

My question is, are there Laundry Facilities on the ships? If so, do they operate similar to the ones at the Disney Resorts in terms of price?

I really don't want to pack 8 days of clothes for my next trip, and enjoy my 4 - 5 day window that I've used in the past when doing WDW.

Thanks!

@sweetpee_1993 this thread was made for you! :)

There are lots of laundry facilities on the ships. They are just a couple of dollars a load and you just swipe your room key. The charges are applied to your onboard account.

Yes! I'm sorta known for my perpetual laundry thing even on vacation. It must sound odd but I always mention in my trip reports when we do laundry because it's pretty frequent. I just feel better knowing everything is clean. I dunno.

Anywhoo, yes! There are laundry facilities on the Fantasy. I've not yet sailed the Fantasy but her sister ship, the Dream, definitely has wonderful facilities. There's a laundry room on just about all the decks that have staterooms. All machines are front-load and cost $2. So that's $2 to wash and $2 to dry. There are detergent vending machines but I'm not sure how much they are. We bring our own Tide pods. Just like Tammy said, you swipe your room key and the charges go to your shipboard account. There have been irons for guest use in each laundry room I've been in on the Dream and Magic. I believe I saw a garment steamer on the Dream. I don't think there's a charge for using the irons/steamers. Irons and garment steamers are forbidden items to bring with you for safety/fire hazard reasons (they don't want you using them in your stateroom) so they supply them free of charge to be used in the appropriate setting.

Also worth mentioning: the paid laundry/cleaning service is pretty reasonable. Here's the price list. Pressing only is half the cost of dry cleaning.

Thanks! That was exactly what I was looking for!

Also, I am glad to see I'm not the only person who is a bit finicky about doing laundry. I even made a packing planning video about it. You might appreciate it!

I too do laundry on the ships. I found that some of the laundry rooms are lacking a flat surface (i.e a table) and a place to hang anything. Trying to fold things "in the air" and be a pain.

Other than that, the laundry rooms are great - especially since you don't need change for them (and i had rolls of quarters with me anyway)

The laurdry list sweatpee posted reminded me of another tip. A lot of people complain about wearing a jacket to dinner because they don't want to drag on a garment bag. Just put one in your normal suitcase and as soon as you get on board, have it pressed. It will be back in your room the next day ready to go.

So true, Dave! Actually, we ended up buying a rolling garment bag that, when packing dress clothes for 4 adult-size people, does save a lot of space in the suitcases and keeps all that stuff together in a separate place. Even with the garment bag we got it folds over in half to zip so everything jammed in there still wrinkles. We used the Express & Same Day pressing services on our last voyage both of which were worth every dime paid.
