Latest DVC offer

Just received the following DVC offer in the mail:

"This offer requires purchasers to buy a real estate interest equal to 100 or more vacation points at Aulani ... or Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. For every 100, up to 1000, vacation points purchased, the purchaser will receive an additional 20 vacation points for the life of the contract. ... Offer expires on June 15, 2012 ... Prices [at Aulani] start at $20,800 ..."

Basically a 20% discount on the purchase price of a DVC membership, with some restrictions. For example, have to purchase in 100 point increments and pay maintanence fees & closing costs for the bonus points.

Does this mean that Aulani is $208 per point? ($20,800 / 100)

Noooo!!!! Aulani is not $208 per point. Before the hike first of the year it was $120/$140 at most (someone else can say that in stone). I bought in August and haven't looked at prices since.


Actually, it looks like it is about $135/point now.

Just pulled my mailer outta the pile of mail. It appears it is AKL or Aulani that it is good for. The closing cost and annual dues bit is what is to be expected. Still a killer deal for that amount, actually better than a CM discount for someone looking to buy that many.

Initial purchase is a minimum of 160 points. Comes out to $130.00 per point. You can purchase additional incriments starting at 25 points but the special offer kicks in at 100 + points if I understood the offer correctly.

I think it is open to everyone, but the mailers were sent to members.

I'm sure DVC would never turn down a sale if you would call...they'd find a way to collect the cash

Yup, arrived home from WDW today and found the mailer in my pile of mail. Although mine seems to only offer AKL, not Aulani, and seemed to imply that 100 points was all you needed to buy. Of course, that could be because I am already a DVC member, so it would be 100 add-on points, not buy-in points. :shrug:

Read the fine print

Mine looks like AKL only as well, but then if you read the details it also lists Aulani

The mailers are targeted. People in the western US are getting a flyer that mentions Aulani by name. Others have Animal Kingdom Villas highlighted.

In reality the offer is valid for purchases at either location, regardless of residence.
