Welcome back!! I'm glad you enjoyed it all. Lol, about San Francisco. You do need great walking shoes for that city!!

Can't wait for the trip report!:)

I've never been to DisneyLand. I hope you have a great time. :) That park looks so pretty. Where are you staying? Are you staying at the hotel that is connected to DL? Take Care & Enjoy your trip

I gotta say though (shuffles feet) I prefer MK to DL. Some of the rides were much better (PotC, SM etc) but the setup of the parks at DL really got to me - I'm a big fan of themed queues and these were seriously lacking.

Did you not ride Indiana Jones? IMHO there is no better themed attraction queue.

MrsBee - you got me. I suppose a lot of it is in my head reagarding the themed queues (I tend to always think of the queues in AK which are generally excellent IMO but MK, perhaps not so much). I think the real problem is that alot of the queue lines spilled out into the paths or seemed to be just placed wherever possible - I'm sure this is a by-product of the unprecidented success of DL and it's struggle with lack of space but I just didn't like it. I'm one of those guys that likes queues to be contained, away from the path. Perhaps this wouldn't have been so bad in DL if the crowds weren't so huge ?

Firefly - I did ride Indiana and the queue was ok. We we're kept in the outside area for 95% of the time though, with the inside queue area being used as a 'walk to the ride' area - a shame as this might have changed my views.

As I understand it Philo, when you were at Disneyland during the week of Easter the Magic Kingdom in Florida had multiple "Phased Closures" where the park is at or over capacity and is shut down entirely. See the threads in the WDW sections here for the tales of woe of mega-crowds in the Florida parks. Some of the pics looked horrific!

Maybe knowing how horrible the Florida parks were that same week you were in California would help? :)

Point is, if you choose to visit a popular theme park during one of the busiest vacation periods of the year, you are going to get crowds and long lines and congested walkways with queues spilling over.

No one goes to Disneyland anymore, it's too crowded!

TP2000 - Mk in florida looked truly horrific and I'm glad I wasn't there! I honestly don't know what is the matter with me. I look back on DL now and I only remember the good things but I came away feeling underwhelmed. I'm starting to wonder if it's just because the DL part of our holiday started on the 9th day. By this time I had seen some amazing things in San Francisco, Las Vegas and even gone for a walk at the bottom of the Grand Canyon - maybe my brain was just winding down due to over excitement.

Well, as wonderful as any Disney theme park is, none of them can hold a candle to the true wonders of our world. And Southern California in particular, and the Western USA in general, has a solid list of some of the best wonders of the world.

There's an amazing list of sights and scenes within a short bit of freeway driving from Disneyland. Whenever I miss Disneyland's old Skyway, I am reminded how much I enjoy heading up the jaw-dropping Palm Springs Aerial Tramway that is about a 90 minute drive from the Disneyland parking lot. Up from the hot desert floor to the snow covered mountains in about 15 minutes aboard the world's largest revolving tramway cabins. And there's not only nature trails at the top, but a cliffside cocktail lounge as well!
