While I love the tap machines... there is something to be said to hearing that turnstile...

Also, they are positioned so odd, its hard to cut in front of someone to use the one they aren't using, then they try to get by you... cluster!

Guest Service will swap the ticket for you, just like I did with the one I got from Undercover Tourist, Fist stop was Epcot Guest Relations just to make sure the ticket was real, yes I'm paranoid, lol, the CM kinkly asked if I wanted the fancy new ticket instead of the paper one.

I would rather have the old stamp tickets with the orginal turnstiles and retain the hand stamps and blacklights

Mr. Kelly, I agree 100% with your comments, and thank you. For months now, I've been reading various threads about the new bands and controversy surrounding them. I am still looking for a reason why they will benefit me.

Since the mid-80s, I've travelled to Disney once a year (most years), and I've either bought my ticket at the MK ticket window on the day I arrived, or more recently, have bought it a day before my trip at the local AAA office, where I get a discount. I have had exactly zero problems with the tickets; my entry into all parks, all years, has been without incident. There's an old expression I've heard, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

No problem :) I feel that we have gone away from the old paper method that was utterly reliable and have begun relying on computers that always seem to crash. The system they have should have redundant backups in place so that if one section of entrances go wonky the others can pick up the slack.

Sometimes the old ways are he best ways. That is why I don't like FP and just don't like the idea of FP+. Plan everything months in advance and then a day of rain can ruin your plans for a day. But that is just another subject for another thread.

If you don't have a ticket with RFID built in, a quick visit to Guest Relations will solve it. Most new paper tickets have RFID inside, though. (Look for the MDE logo somewhere on the back with the Mickey head icon inside a circle)

True except for one phrase in your post. A quick visit to Guest Relations is a very rare event. Most visits are long and tedious.

I have a question. since i bought my MNSSHP tixs and printed them off, do i still have to exchange them for the new plastic tixs?

I bought my ticket on the phone a couple weeks ago for a party this week. I have an AP and couldn't get the discount online since the system will not recognize my AP. I was told I would have to pick up my ticket at will call since it was a discounted ticket. A couple days later I received a fedex tracking number and when the package was delivered it was my RFID MNSSHP ticket!

Does it say on there to exchange what you printed for a ticket? I was used to printing off my ticket at home and thought I would have to visit guest relations this year but luckily they mailed me my ticket. I'm not sure but they might still have people scanning those types of tickets but I would give them a call and ask so you don't waste time going back and forth from the gate to guest relations.

I don't understand why they can't get some APs to work. If they expect to roll this out soon they better get that fixed first. I know I wasn't happy visiting guest relations daily on my last trip. Keeping my fingers crossed my new pass will work.

To staff the new entrances well for volume, I'd say they need at least 3 people per pole group.

2 to physically monitor the card / finger scan (right and left), and one in the back to monitor the handheld.

I also didn't see the handheld at every pole gate we used...not sure why.

Anyway, with the older gates, one CM could monitor two gates.

Labor...labor...labor...
I had this issue over the weekend. My finger didn't read and the person standing in the middle of the 4 readers looked right at me and said "do it again" He had some sort of reader that he was watching that showed that either my ticket for finger scan didn't work correctly.
