Large Tour Groups in July a regularity?

Master Yoda, shell casings can trip other visitors, so please remember to police your brass.

Or attach a bag around the action...don't want to trip up the guests we're trying to protect!

Kevin

BTW, Master Yoda...what part of Jax (although I think I've asked you this before...I just don't remember)? I've lived in the area for 30 years myself...

hi

Well since my first visit to Disney in 1994 I remember them. My parents vacation is in July so we have always gone there in July. They can be rude, but I do know that they speak and or understand english and spanish, this kids come from wealthy families in Brazil and go to schools were english is teached.

I think that they behave that way because they know their parents aren't there, so little can be done.

I am from Puerto Rico and I speak spanish and understand pretty good Portuguese, so when I go and here them I know when they are up to something.

Some times they don't use their uniform, thinking people won't noticed, but as soon as you hear them you know.

Last year when I was doing the line for Everest with my sister, like 10 girls without their uniform where in front of me,after 30 minutes in line(1 hour wait line), and from nowwhere another bunch appears and got in front of me, they tought I didn't noticed and just laughing about it. What I did was that when we were almost there I started saying "excuse me" in spanish and I got a girl very mad and I said in spanish that she just sneaked in and didn't do the complete line and that she shouldn't mind letting pass 2 when they passed 10.

I know she understood every word I said,so she did nothing and we went on the ride before the whole group.

So just show some attitude, at least it worked for me.

tour groups are the reason my family stopped going in july. this year we went july 29(only available time for bw with dvc apparently) and there were only tour groups the first day. they are really annoying. We were inline for buzz light year, 5 people from a brazilian tour group were infront of us. And let 15 kids infront of us as well. rude.

A group of CMs from AK dressed up as a Brazilian tour group for MNSSHP, the "scariest costume of all" according to them. I started speaking a little Portuguese, and they just nodded their heads and made loud noises. I later found out they weren't Brazilian. I felt like such an idiot.

I noticed this when I went last July - ugh!! Disney should try to crack down on queue jumping a bit more, because it's so unfair...

Also, when the "flag bearer" walks up to a fastpass machine with all 2,000 of his/her group's tickets (no exaggeration......:lookaroun) it clogs up the whole system - so annoying!

Why do they have to go around in a huge herd? Break it up!

I dealt with the tour groups when I was in WDW a month ago. Some are more rude than others. I think they usually "invade" WDW from late June to early August.

I've been there done that and I know how you all feel. But in stead of complaing to each other maybe we should all writesome very nice:)lol: ) letters to the Brazilian consulent and tell them extacly what their kids are acting like. I'm sure any pictures would help. It's just a thought.

I understand the CM's cant do alot about the groups being lound and generally annoying but they must be able to do something about the cutting in line. Seriously, if I had been waiting in line for even a few minutes and a whole group of 15 or more kids jumped in line with their friends I would be seriously p****d off. It's not that I mind waiting a couple more minutes to ride, its just the principle of it.

Im sure disney have rules about cutting in line. Every other park does and even though these kids bring in alot of money for them , they need to realise that they are runining the magic for everyone else.

And I think we all need to make a pact that we will stick up for ourselves! I really think cutting in line should be forbidden by those of us that wait in line. As embarrasing that it is for us "polite folks" to make a scene, we need to not let them pull that crap on us.

 Granted I am blowing some serious smoke. I will *never* go back in July.

These groups sporadically show up throughout the year (I've definitely seen them around in February and March) but July is when they come out in full force. I tend to avoid the parks during the summer due to the large crowds and awful heat (and I'm a native so I'm used to this weather!).

Anyway, here are some of my tips for dealing with them (them being any large group of people who may do something to bother you):

-always make a note of the nearest CM. If you are unfortunate enough to have 30 people 'cut' in line in front of you, have one person from your party go to the CM. Some CMs won't do anything, but some will be just as fed up and not allow it (I've seen that happen a few times). As long as you're nice, polite and sympathetic to the CM, it can't hurt. You might just get fast passes out of it but hey, that's something!

-don't give them attention! I've noticed that the more people watch them, the louder they get and longer they go on

-if you witness anything offensive to you, report it! Security has taken action when large groups do things such as flashing, etc. You don't have to deal with that.

I hope that helps some... it applies to any large group that forgets their manners since people tend to get more obnoxious when surrounded by friends :) I probably didn't say anything new and useful though but it was an ice vent lol

My good friends, husband and wife, were in line for Tower of Terror and were in the boiler room almost there. A group of Brazilians were trying their cutting act and when they got to D and T, D & T stood shoulder to shoulder and put their other hands on their hips, unmoving. The group muttered and got mad, but other Guests in line started to get the idea and stopped letting them pass as well.
I also heard that clapping your hands together twice, then motioning to where you want them to go works quite well. Odd enough, but I wished I had known it when they were invading my gift shop and taking over my queue!
It seems all you have to do, like everyone said, is put your foot down with them.

I saw them all the way up until the last couple of days in July and havent seen them at all in August. Yahoo!

i can't beleive i forgot to say this... when we were waiting to get into AK before a group of them were weaving their way in and out to get to the front of the park. I was really getting angry, so i grabbed my sisters arm and we locked arms, and i stood really close to the person next to me. The man said "excuse me" and i replied... in a very jersey accent "no habla ingles" so they stood there and stared at me. and then I looked back at the family that was originally behind me and asked if they wanted to go infront of us.... I felt satisfaction.:)

I guess realistically there is nothing that can be done but from a crowd control standpoint that many in groups together could be a concern. When we were there last month huge groups of these Brazilian tours were waving flags and yelling and chanting their way through EPCOT and it did cause a bit of a disturbance because people had to move out of the way for them to pass and it was disruptive because people didn't always understand what the story was and were stopping to see what the commotion was.

Yep unkadug has it correct. Every freaking July the tour groups arrive. We go down every July for my DD's b-day for 12 days. We just got back from our annual trek as a matter of fact and we had our normal run ins with the tour groups. I did however have some fun with the tour groups this year. The Brazilian ones are the ones that, in my opinion are the rudest of the bunch and they like to chant and scream at different locations around the 4 parks. So this year I snuck in a couple of little air horns. And when I got off of Splash Mountain and they were there doing their chanting so I came up behind them and let the air horn rip scared the ________ out of the entire group.
:ROFLOL:
Then one of them started to yell at me in Portuguese and I blasted the horn again. I have never laughed so hard in my life.

Air horns, eh? Powerful weapon against those groups! :ROFLOL:

Great tips! I just completed my Hub on them, known as turismos.
