So, what was the verdict. What did you decide upon?
Oh! I forgot about this thread.
(My mind's already going :lookaroun )

I ended up with a Del Inspiron E1505, and although I'm still getting used to it, it's working well and occupying much of my time. I love my new toy.:lookaroun :sohappy: :lookaroun

Connor, forgive me for slightly commandeering your thread, but I too am on a small hunt for a college-worthy laptop.

Does anyone have one of those laptops that you can also use a stylus to actually write on the screen if you don't feel like typing? The kind where the screen turns around backwards and sits on the keyboard screen-side up. I don't know what they're called, but they look pretty cool and versatile, not to mention useful.

Are there any reviews of those? Price ranges? Names?

I've got the toshiba one like that- with the pen and the screen rotates and I LOVE IT!! It's great for alot of things too. The one I have is Toshiba satellite R15-S829. They are called Tablet pc's because they work like a regular writing tablet and everything. It also has the DVD-RW, Centrino mobile technology, it's wireless and well, just fantastic. I think we paid about $1,300 for it maybe less once all the mail in rebate stuff was done. Really worth the money in my opinion.
I know HP also makes one, but I never heard enough about them to want to get it- the toshiba had tons of good reviews so that's why I went with it (plus it was $300 cheaper than the HP model)

Did you already buy one? I was just gonna reccommend (if you'd even bother taking a reccommendation from me... I'd say not to though cuz I can't figure out how to spell "reccommend" :() But, at school, we get IBM Thinkpads... every student gets them prior to freshman year, then gets the newest model prior to Junior year... you could say we get them "free" with tuition, but tuition is outrageous so its not THAT great a deal... however... the IBM Thinkpads are truly an incredible piece of equipment... they're unbelievably easy to work with, easy to keep from getting viruses and such, good for traveling with. They're extremely fast. I've done a lot of great things with it too just from the programs that it has... including making my sister a slideshow DVD of her new child, six months at the time I did it, (which included pictures and videos, as well as effects such as zooming in and out/scrolling along these videos or pictures...) and I have it playing perfectly to tunes and such... made her cry, she loved it... and I know NOTHING about A/V and how to do that... but it was extremely simple to do with the programs on my laptop...

just my 2 cents...
