You know I was just trying to remember, and I'm not sure.
I know that after Stacey was born, I had to go somewhere one night. George's sister lived across the street and she took her home and kept her over night. I remember her bringing her back the next morning in her carrier and putting her down. I leaned down to her and as I started to speak, she broke into the most amazing smile. I knew that smile meant that she knew who I was, and that I was gone, and that I was back again. It was so special.
But I don't remember how old she was. She was still really tiny. . .
It's funny, butI remember a similar incident with DD. My brother was in a pretty serious motorcycle accidet, and Dave and I had to go see him at the hospital. Our next door neighbor was a pediatric nurse, so I left the baby with her. It was a pretty tough day - we didn't know how my brotherwas going to be, so we were pretty glum when we came home. As soon as DD saw me and heard my voice, she broke out with a smile from ear to ear, and made all that go away for a while.... It wasn't her first smile, but definitely one of my favorites. She was about 3 1/2 months old then.

Yes!
It wasn't Stacey's first smile, either. But it was the first one that made that connection, where I knew she knew it was me she was smiling at and that she was happy to see me. I'll never forget it!

Yes please! :D

My parents are coming on Friday and if I'm not fat by then, they'll be upset.

Well, we'll just have to fix that! I don't want your mom to think I'm slouching on the job!
