Labor Day weekend crowds and planning next year's trip.

sublimesting

Hi guys I have asked this before but I just want to check again. How are the crowd levels the weekend of Labor Day as well as Labor Day itself? I ask because we were planning on going the weekend of Labor Day as well as the week after. We were talking to some CMs there a few weeks ago and they told us that that is one of the busiest times of the year and they get slammed. But I had thought that on these boards people said it wasn't so bad. Would I be better off waiting until the following weekend.?

Also when are AP discounts usually released? And, one more here, when is free dining usually announced?

Thanks guys!!!!

We went Sept 10-20 it was not bad but not all that great.... I remember going the week after labor day a few years back and it was a ghost town.

I concur with this statement. We went from the 8th until the 15th and it was definitely NOT the same as September of 08.

I think Labor Day is one of the slower holiday weekends at WDW. Except for maybe local crowds and tourists traveling with younger children, it is probably moderate at worst.

I'm also interested in hearing people's experiences about the week leading up to and including labor day. We put a deposit down on a bounceback offer for that time frame and I'm wondering if it would be better to change dates earlier (we can't go later).

Anyone have any personal experience for that week in recent years?

We were there 9/3 - 9/9 this year for my stepdaughter's wedding. I haven't been to WDW since 1985. I never felt the park was crowded (part of the Disney magic I guess) and our longest wait for a ride (Toy Story) was 45 min. Most were 20 minutes but seemed much shorter. The only time it "felt" crowded was in the restaurants. But, the day AFTER Labor Day...what a difference! We basically had the place to ourselves. We walked right on rides with NO wait at all. We were able to ride Soarin', Mission Space, Space Mountain, Rockin' Roller Coaster, etc time after time. We would get off and get right back on. The further into the week-after we went, the more deserted it became. And pretty much no kids. It was a miserably hot week, but other than that...wonderful. I want to go back!! Next time I'm thinking mid-late October just because it might be cooler and I want to experience the Halloween Party.
