should I bother with La Nouba.

The price tag is pretty steep and I'm not related to any oil barons so I don't know if I should get tickets to this or not.

I have seen the disney planing DVD preview of at and was unimpressed by the whole thing but then again I have never seen the show so I don't know. Is it really worth the big ticket price to see some guys in there underwear jumping on trapolines?

I saw it when it came to Boston a few years ago, and I didn't think it lived up to the hype. However, a lot of people rave about it, especially the one at WDW. (which from the videos, looked better than the Boston one) The Unofficial Guide to WDW even said it was the best thing in all of WDW.

Am i missing something here, what is the big $150 deal?!
If they charge that much why are they still in business?!
I could almost add another day to my trip for the price of these tickets!!!
Think about it what is better? A day in the magic kingdom with hotel stay on the grounds and all the fun you can have doing that..... or guys in there underwear jumping on trapolines?

I saw Cirque in Downtown Disney last year, and my impression was this:

I couldn't believe I had been down to WDW for so many years and missed, not only the best show on property, but the best show I had seen in my life. Shell out the money, take your seat, and then OPEN YOUR MIND. You'll see at and experience things that you won't believe, even after viewing it through your own two eyes. That's a promise. :)

Then again, if you think it's only guys jumping on trampolines, and you go in with an "I'm better than this crap" attitude, you'll probably hate it anyway, regardless of it's unique and imaginative content.

I can definitely understand the hesitation because of the price, I'm a poor college student. However cirque is an amazing show. Now that I've seen it, I'm really glad that I did. I don't know when I'll see it again because of the price, but it's definitely worth seeing at least once. I think your attitude about the show will drastically change as soon as the show begins. It's definitely more than guys jumping on trampolines in their underwear.

While I love Cirque and highly recommend it, I would not for you with the background given. You are right that the cost is high, and if that is a concern, I think no matter what you see, it will not measure up.

I would suggest you enjoy the various parks to their fullest and put this off for another day, after you hit the lottery.

I am not being sarcastic here, it seems if people are concerned about the money factor of some restaurants or various events, that limits their ability to enjoy it.

With all that said, I don't like circuses, I am not particularly thrilled by guys in tights on a trampoline, but this show is far from either of those. It is very complex and just amazing to be a part of. Television (La Nouba has never been televised) of some other shows while fun, do not begin to capture the energy or amazement of the event.

Well I've never seen Cirque live, but I had to watch one of their shows in my Theater class in college. I must say that the performers are extremely talented, but I would not consider actually going to one of the shows. It's just not my thing I guess. I knew that it was going to be a different type of show, but I found it to be overly odd and weird. I would say try to rent of their shows on video (I would assume they are available in some stores) and see if it is your type of entertainment. It is definately an acquired taste.

But Main Street USA is definately right, there is alot more to this than just your typical circus stuff. These guys are the very best at what they do.

That quote right there applies perfectly to any person that takes their first vacation to WDW.

I hear people from around here say all the time they liked the parks and all, but they can't believe they paid $7 for a cheeseburger . It seems to have ruined their trip for some reason.

Let's see.... is La Nouba good...?

Well, from my experience, I would say yes...

After all, I saw La Nouba *FREE* 12 times while I was on my College Program, and went back on vacation and paid the money to see it again. In my opinion La Nouba is fantastic.

However, I know what it is like to do Disney on the cheap, having done so myself many times. If you find La Nouba out of your budget, then some (very few, but some) of the performances and acrobatics are recreated by the performers of EPCOT (the chair act in France, Chinese Diabolos).
But, even with this, is does not even compare in a miniscule measure to the full experience of La Nouba

LOL

That's exactly why I put "OPEN YOUR MIND" in caps in my first post. I KNEW someone would call it wierd! I totally understand where you're coming from, but in my opinion, the "wierdness" only adds to it's creativity and uniqueness. ;)

I did open my mind, that is why I put OVERLY odd and weird .

Of course the show I saw was not La Nouba so it could have been a whole different animal. The show I saw had a guy chasing this top hat for like 10 minutes. Or at least I think that is what it was. The actual circus parts of the show, while different, were not weird. It was the whole other theatrics that were in the show I saw that got on my nerves.

 :slurp: Ladies, it's our own version of "The Man Show!"

Sorry, just couldn't resist!

Seriously, this is something that we wanted to do last time but ran out of time to see it. We've found that the Unofficial Guide is right on the money the majority of the time.

Have fun and make sure you tell us what you thought of it if you go!!

La Nouba is worth the money simply because there are no good 3 ring circuses left in the USA. However, if you have ever seen a really good 3 ring circus, then La Nouba pales in comparison.:)

It is definitely worth it!

The creative genius behind any Cirque show is amazing. I'd pay the money just to see the theatrics.

But, I do agree with ClemsonTigger and Main Street USA: You shouldn't see it with the whole trampoline and underwear thing.

My friends and I saw it last month. We had one person who complained about the money before we actually saw it. We had great 8th row seats, but she wanted the cheap side seats. Well the result was...

We all enjoyed it, except for her. She was the only one out of 7 who didn't like it.

The DVDs, tv shows, and the advertisments do not do Cirque justice. In the tents, there are many emotions that cannot be produced by the visual media.

Well, with these preconceived notions, no, i don't think it would be worth it for you. If you can't get past guys wearing tight costumes and the price, then i don't see how you could turn around and enjoy it.

If you were just trying to be funny, then maybe give it a shot. But if you're the type that looks down upon the Arts in general then paying $5 would probably be a waste, let alone the actual prices of admission.

If money is an issue, never do something with it that there's a good chance you'll regret. Stick to things you know you'll enjoy and you'll have a better time with your investments.

I would say 'yes, it´s very worth it', but I like that kind of shows and I´m used to going to the theater and pay that and more.
This is the cheapest -I think- of the Cirque du Soleil shows. I´ve only seen La Nouba and Ô live, and the second one was the most impressive thing I´ve ever seen! So hard to put in words what you see in that one...

I´d recommend you to rent the videos, maybe Alegría first, then Dralion, etc. and see if they are your kind of thing so you don´t spend the whole show thinking of your wallet. :animwink:

Gotta see it. My wife and I have gone 3 times since they started in 2000. The DVD does not do it justice. My wife, son, and I enjoy the whole show, we are going down in 2005 and plan to see it again..

Its not that I look down on the arts, I was mostly being funny about the underwear thing.

I used to live in New Orleans and have been drug to many plays, musical theaters, and the like and I have enjoyed my share of them but I was never really into the whole sceen. But thats the NewOrleans vibe anyway (everybody thinks there better than everybody else there, I hate that town) I am getting off track.

as far as the unoficial guide I have differed with it before but I generaly enjoy everything (and I mean everything) that I do in Disney but because of my past experiances at "experimental theater" type shows I am a little nervous about the show.
