Kongfrontation Tribute

I always loved Kongfrontation. It was a great attraction. I went on it once in 1993. I loved it. Now, The Mummy is a competent replacement but I have always felt they should have made a way for both of them to co-exist. The remake of King Kong was great in 2005, they really should have done something right then. But it isn't too late. Fix the mistakes Universal and bring back a new and improved Kong.

Mummy is a better attraction, but I always thought the timing was odd to replace Kong. Replace a ride that an upcoming movie has something to do with right before it comes out? Lost marketing opportunities there, Universal... Still, I did enjoy Kong, but Mummy is overall a better ride.

Oh, there is a Kong tribute inside Mummy. If you look to the left side in the treasure room you can see a gold statue of Kong. It's not really a tribute, but if you look up during the main roller coaster portion, you can see Kong's ride track on the roof (they couldn't remove it because it's part of the building's infrastructure). Also, the loading station is in the exact same place as it was for Kong.

I too found the timing odd, the ride needed updating and I hope an entirely new Kong (i.e not Kong 3D) attraction happens some day.

The problem with Kongfrontation is that it was (obviously) based on the 70's era remake of Kong and couldn't have tied in with Universal's 30's era remake. Too many thematic inconsistencies.

Have you seen what they are doing in Hollywood to make the Transformers ride? The can always build UP! Take the roof off of that building and go upwards with it! 'Ol banana breath would be at home if they doubled the height of that building! lol

There's only so much you can accomplish by building vertically. Even after the current building was demolished (it would have to be) that space just isn't large enough for a major attraction.

Yeah, i know...but i wish SOMETHING would go in that old building already! I hate seeing attractions continually being replaced when there are still other places in the park for expansion, or buildings sitting unused.

Maybe a walkthrough or show could go back in the Murder She Wrote/Herc Xena building....just adding anything would be a plus.

As for Kong, I say best idea would be to build a new ride in World Expo...what better place to showcase the mighty gorilla?
