Maybe that's because they've be advertizing it so much. Even if it did make lots of money, the movie it'self was bad (in my opinion). There was hardly any story, and it didn't tell you about how he became the scorpion king monster in the mummy returns. The dialogue was really bad, and the fight scenes reminded me too much of the WWF (The rock probably had something to do with that). Also the movie lacked the special effects that the mummy movies had.

If universal does do what they planned, I can't see how they could make an indoor, themed coaster out of this movie.

KEEP KONG!

I don't think Kong is anything special, and it tends to break down everytime I'm on it. I think the Mummy/Scorpion King attraction will be great, but it doesn't really go with New York.

KONG IS DONE

Hello everybody..

You can kiss Kong goodbye. It is currently being taken down. I work at AAA and we just had a meeting this past week with our Universal Studios rep. I asked her personally, and she said that "Kong is currently being disassembled to make room for a great new attraction". She "didn't know" exactly what was going in its place, but said she hears "its going to be great".
Kong was a really good ride, but I have the feeling US is looking for its own SPIDERMAN ride.

As for the Mummy in New York thing... maybe it will be some kind of museum idea to get that to work.

Just a thought.

Universal Studios doesn't have any space to leave kong and add the coaster. That's what i don't like about Universal Orlando it's to small. Maybe if it were bigger (like WDW) than they would have a chance on beating WDW. If they had more space Kong can stay and just add the coaster somewhere in the park. Does anyone know how big is Universal Orlando?

It can't be currently disassembled if it was opened yesterday. Maybe she ment that it's going to be disassembled.

Personally, I don't see how a roller coaster could be as good as Spiderman, but time will tell.

As for room, Universal does have plenty of land. Directly attached to universal, they have some space between MIB and BTTF. There is more behind Earthquake and where beetlejuice was. Then On the other side of IoA, there is enough land to build a whole (small) park. They own wet and wild, and then on the other side of I-drive, Universal bought a HUGE plot of land, so space isn't really a problem. It's just filling and connecting that space.

I still say they should keep Kong. How long will the mummy be remembered. I don't think the Mummy movies are exactly classics, and don't get me started about the scorpion king. Ask anyone that has seen it, to tell you in detail what it was about...

Universal doesn't have any space. I have been to the back. In back of Earthquake there's the soundstages from the production studio. and in back of IOA there's Dr. Phillips High School. I have seen the back wall of IOA and that's where Jarussic Park The Ride is located. I have been around the whole circumference of Universal Orlando and there's either attractions, parking or Resorts on the egdes... and what's the point of building another another park somewhere else when it's not even close to the actual resort. Universal should have bought much more land before building Universal Studios. I might be wrong. but i am sure at 30 Universal Orlando Resorts fit into WDW.

The space behind earthquake is limited, but they could put something back there. I didn't mean the land behind IoA. I know there's no land back there, but across the street from dudley do right, next to the Royal Pacific, there is engough land to build a small park. With the land on the other side of I-drive, they could build a monorail or something like that connecting the two areas. If you think about it, even though they are on the same property, Magic Kingdom and Epcot aren't exactly right next door to each other either.

I know Magic Kingdom and Epcot are not close to each other but they are still on Disney property. No public places like malls or a supermarket or something like thatare in the way...get what i mean? That would be a good idea about the monorail...but i think the small park wouldn't be a good idea. If u had another park in another location it would horrible...unlike Disney which they are all together in a vast piece of Disney property making it magical!

I believe Universal just got a lot of land for Lockede Martin (I dont know how to spell!!! OK?!). I think I heard it was enough for 2 more parks and more hotels (at least that was what they were planing). But this land is away from Universal, and the area around the studios is limited.

Kong was open on saturday.

Beetlejuice is being redone into Monsters Rocks. Beetle juice now has a street show with the ghostbusters. (I haven't seen this yet). There's more info about this on screamscape.
