My wife and I will be staying off site in september, but really wanna try the lapu lapu. Is it possible for us to go to the kona cafe just for dessert and a drink? Or would we have to get dinner? could we even go if we arent staying at the resort?

Thanks!!

You can certainly go and just order dessert and a drink. It's a restaurant the same as any other. I think you'll have to pay for parking at the MK parking entrance, so factor a $14 parking charge into your cost [unless you're AP holders].

Parking is free, just head towards the far right toll booth and tell them you are eating at the Polynesian. At the security gate in front of the resort they will ask for your ID and the reason you are there.

Furthermore, it is perfectly acceptable to simply have dessert anywhere on property and the Lapu Lapu is pretty cool. Have fun!

You can also get the drink at the Tambu Lounge without having to go to the restaurant. You can enjoy an appetizer there as well while you have the drink (but it won't be neccesary).

well thanks everyone. i went ahead and just booked a reservation for dinner as well. the menu looks great. whats your favorite meal there?

We made reservations at 745, and will be going after a day at DHS. Is there a dress code? or can we go in our park going attire?

You can get a Lapu Lapu at the lounge and bring it into Ohana with you. In fact, I did this just 2 weeks ago. It was a strong Lapu Lapu I might add...I almost started to do the hula. :) The drink is also listed on Kona Cafe's menu.

Kona for dinner is excellent - probably my favorite place to eat in WDW. I've always had great service & food there. The Pan Asian Noodles & Coconut Chicken are both my 2 top choices. My husband loves the Beef Teriyaki.
