We are headed to Kona for breakfast for the first time this fall for our trip! We have heard great things about breakfast there, and had a few questions!

How big is the 100% Kona Press? How many cups will I get out of it? Is it shareable or would I have to order 2?

The menu looks fantastic! DW is already set on getting the Tonga Toast! I however am stuck between the pineapple macadamia pancakes and the Samoan??? They both sound so good! Help me choose!

How fast do you think we can get in and out? Is service slow or can we be out in 45 minutes or less?

Is the lilikio (sp?) juice the same as Ohana?

the French Press Holds 2 1/2 Cups Of Coffee. What You Don't Finish You Can Take With You.
I'd Go With The Samoan, It's A Savory Dish Where The Tonga Toast Is Very Sweet, This Way You Can Share.
45 Min Is Doable If The Place Isn't Jam Packed.
Yes, Lilikoi Juice Is The Same Juice.

Sorry My Phone Keeps Putting Caps On The Front Of Every Word.

Kona is one of my favorite spots for breakfast in WDW. I have had the Tonga Toast... it was good but I couldn't finish it all and it was really sweet. The Big Kahuna is another popular meal there to try a little bit of everything. The macadamia nut pancakes is what I ordered when I was there in September and they were delicious!!! So big so again, I could not finish the entire thing and I felt guilty but I ate all that I could.

You should definitely try the Kona Press Pot. This was the best coffee I have ever had on property. It doesn't make for more than 2-3 cups but still worth it. :D

Totally Agree The big kahuna will stay with you all day my DS orders it everytime we go. I love the macadamia pineapple pancakes. I tried the Tonga Toast once and didn't care for it , too chewy, like eating a mattress.

The Big Kahuna is a little bit of everything and YUMMY (definately enough to share) The lillikoi (or pog juice) is the same as Frunch at Boma. My son got addicted to it last trip!! Yes, Tonga Toast is VERY filling (you're right @zurgandfriend it IS like a mattress) but I do love it! The Samoan is excellent. (If you like eggs benedict, you will LOVE it) We LOVE Kona for breakfast, but aren't keen on it for dinner.

We are also trying Kona cafe for breakfast for the first time, I must admit I am going for the Coffee, but it would be rude not to try the food. No Tonga Toast for me I can't stand bananas.

Hi there, we also ate at Kona for the 1st time this year. The place is awesome, we not only ate there once but rebooked 3 more times on our trip.

and last but not least The 100% Kona french press so good we brought a $40 bag of beans home its wonderful. We ordered 2 pots as there were 3 of us drinking it, and we had enough for 2 big take out cups to head on into the parks with.

Hope you and your family enjoy it we found it wonderful, we booked for between 7.30 and 7.45 and were normally the first ones there and we were in and out within 45 mins could of been quicker but we ate slow and savoured every mouthful. My advice would be do it near the start of your break and then you have the opportunity to go back again and again and again. lol :D;)

Another fan here of Kona for breakfast.
It is a tradition now thanks to the great reviews i read on this very Forum a few years back.
I kept hearing great things about the breakfast options, and they seemed right up my alley...so i decided to try it out, and now it is a must-do for every first breakfast on Property.

I usually go for the Big Kahuna..minus the meat. It really does fill you up for a full day at the Park.
Not only is the food good, it is a nice setting. It is a wonderful way to start off a day....having breakfast at the Poly.
Instead of eating at some food court or hotel snack bar, eating within the retro tropical atmosphere of the Poly is just great. It is definately a mood enhancer.

Take your time and enjoy your meal.
Look around you...look at the decor and the themes. Admire the chocolate sculpture that is usually on display near one of the food stations.

Request a table near facing out to the upper walkway where the indoor gardens/waterfall are located.
It is soothing to sit there drinking your Kona Coffee and pineapple pancakes while viewing the scene.

Happy dining....!

This is the only meal we are paying out of pocket since the prices are the lowest of all te places we are eating at, and it definitely looks like a good deal! Thank u all again for your input! Only 142 days left :(

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Kona for breakfast is an absolute must for us every year.
My SIL gets Tonga Toast, I get the Macadamia Nut Pancakes, and Hubby gets the Big Kahuna.
SIL eats most of the TT, I eat 1 1/2 pancakes, Hubby eats his whole meal and all the leftovers!
We then walk around the grounds, lay in a hammock, complain how full we are, and then head to MK to walk it all off.
This is such a highlight of our trip that sometimes we do it twice.
This year, we were down one Hubby but up two nieces, so we comfortably split the aforementioned three entrees between the four of us.
As for the Kona press, it counts as two beverages on the DDP. Hubby and I split it the first year, but each found that we would have liked more. Subsequently, we have just ordered the regular Kona coffee, and have been able to drink as much as we wanted. While not quite as good as the press, the regular coffee is head and shoulders above any other coffee served on property.
You will really enjoy this meal. Just be sure to give yourself some time to explore - both the inside and the beautiful grounds.

Tonga is also available without the banana if that interests you!

Well, I can't eat the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes (between the pineapple and nut allergies, it's a ticket to Celebration Hospital) and I hated the Tonga Toast because it's overly sweet for my taste. But the potatoes they serve on their platters are amazing. The blueberry pancakes are also amazing.

Liliko'i. I just had Liliko'i shave ice earlier today.

Also, I'd love to know why in the real Hawaii they have waffles with whipped cream and coconut syrup...but none at Kona! I guess for the same reason they don't serve rice with your eggs.

I love Kona, but I never get what I would call good service or quick service there, even at breakfast. They often don't manage their reservations well, and frequently we have been seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, and we always arrive 15-20 minutes early. As well as the servers are just not very on the ball when it comes to refills and getting your food in a timely manner, so I would be prepared to not get out of there in 45 minutes. I do love the food, so we go every trip, but we just never get great service.
