Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider by Ridley Pearson has just been released and I'm wondering if anyone has read this book, or even the series. I myself, really enjoy the Kingdom Keepers books and find them as great reads. Share your thoughts, feelings and opinions on Kingdom Keepers VII: The Insider Below!

Also, for those who don't plan on reading the books, Kingdom Keepers is about a group of teenagers and their friends who are models for hologram tour guides in the Disney Parks. However, when they go to sleep, they wake up as their holograms inside the parks after they close and discover a troubling secret. Disney Villans are out to destroy the magic of Walt Disney World and Disneyland and it is up to to the "Kingdom Keepers" to stop them. (This is a very basic plot summary).

Note: For those who have not read the books, I recommend you read the book before scrolling through this thread as it could potentially contain spoilers to the book and in the end, the series finale.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Only somewhat relevant, for which I apologize: it drives me NUTS that Disney sells the books on property, when they talk about the M&G characters like they're costumes performers. Kills the magic.

I completely agree with you; Especially about the meet and greet point.

The only part I didn't like was the ending. He never said what was in the music box. He probably will put it in the next book. Plus, I wish more good characters had helped like Donald,Goofy, etc.

I agree with you. The ending was one of the things I didn't like. But, this was the last book of the series so I don't think we'll learn what was in the music box. Highlight Text to See the spoiler

I was really disappointed in the book. I saw who the author was and bought one 2 summers ago for my DGD9 who was 6 1/2 at the time but a very strong reader. I tried reading it when I saw she had no interest in it and I was bored too. I expected better out of this author

Can't stand this series.

So poorly written, tons of thing wrong eg River Cruises, Sleeping Beauty Castle at WDW, stupid contrived plot points, annoying characters, costumed characters, atrocious series and lazy half assed cash grab.

I was very excited to see KK #1 at MCO shortly after its release (WHY are there so few novels set at WDW? I know KK is published by Hyperion (Disney)...does Disney have to approve books that use its trademark names? Is there a copyright expert out there who could comment?).

But after my initial excitement had passed, I noticed the author of KK. Oh, No - Ridley Pearson! The man responsible for the following sentence (from Hard Fall):

"A yellow hamburger wrapper replete with golden arches fluttered like a bird with a broken wing and dove into traffic, adhering to the side of a Mercedes where it smeared catsup across the side panel doors like blood from an open wound."

I was working in a bookshop when Hard Fall came out (1992?) and I got a freebie copy. The above sentence appears on page one and it has stuck in my memory ALL THESE YEARS. Despite this, I bought KK #1, and I thought it was...OK. Good enough to try the next one. There's an enormous amount to work with in the concept...has OUR BELIEF in Disney's characters truly animated them - and does whether they are perceived as good or evil determine their nature...?

It's a pretty fab IDEA, but the execution falls short. Budget cuts, maybe?;)

Seriously though - RP is a thriller writer and while the KK books have lots of ACTION, I want more ATMOSPHERE in a book about WDW.

Would love to know about other good books set at WDW... and thanks for posting this topic, OP!

Frankly, I barely got through the first one and haven't read any of the others. The whole premise with the holograms is just too far-fetched, and the book had no feeling of Disney magic in it, at least for me. The writing style was very pedestrian and unimaginative too. I was very disappointed.
