I went to get dinner in the mall last night and there was a preview screening of King Kong starting at about the same time. There was probably about 400 people in line at that point, so I didn't even entertain trying to get in, got my food and left. I am excited to see it, though.

I'll have to wait for the weekend as well, though semester finals are after Winter Break for me. Also on another note, our family will go up to Kansas City after Christmas and stop at Marceline on the way back. Just throwing that out there...

I just got back, and it was awesome! Definately recommend it.

Im the complete opposite i didnt like it, i thought it was to slow and dragged out in parts, wait for the dvd

I think it has its good entertaining moments...its funny moments...its silly moments (which I don't think they were going for)...but it has a lot of boring moments too...it drags and it wouldn't be so bad, if some of the actors were a little better (but the dialogue wasn't exactly anything out of this world either). This movie could've been shorter...I think in an effort to make the film into a classic long "epic"...the movie suffered a bit. I also have some problems with a couple of sequences in the film, there's a whole section I thought could've been handled differently instead of cutting to black. In all though, me personally, I'd give this film a solid B. One that people should not miss at the theaters...if anything this movie has the best visuals I have ever seen in a film...I think this is the best we could probably see from a film titled, King Kong...

Go see it. But if you don't, you should at least rent it when it comes out on DVD.

Just my opinion anyway.

(Did anyone catch (what I thought to be) a jab at Disney? Hint: It was in the footprint scene)

I just got back from it, and let me say, Peter Jackson is a genious. He is without a doubt one of the best film makers of our generation. This movie was fantastic. It started off a little too slowly for my taste, but it got more and more exciting. Adrien Brody and the other cast was real great. The real shining stars however are Jack Black ( biggest surprise of the movie. He took the role seriously and it turned out fantastic ) and Niomie Watts who easily rivals Kiera Knightly and Emma Watson in hotness. The opening scene with the natives gave me chills. Gosh, they make the orcs look like puppies! All the action sequences were great. The brontosaurus stampede had me on the edge of my seat, and the King Kong duel with the T-Rexs was exhilarating. Not once did it make me think "Jurassic Park rip-off." And let me tell ya, King Kong is without a doubt the most amazing CGI character ever created. The level of detail with all of his wounds, and junk caught in his hair, it was just astounding. Andy Serkis really out did himself with the noises, facial expressions, and movements. He also played the cook, and did anyone notice that he kinda gave a Gollum-like scream when he was being eaten by the giant leeches? Speaking of the giant leeches, I had a hard time watching that scene with all of the bugs! It was so gross, I couldn't bear to watch. They made Shelob look like the itsy bitsy spider! And the scene on top of the Empire State building had everyone in the audience moved. I even heard a couple of sniffles. Simply incredable. Jackson really poured his heart and soul into this, and you can tell! Some of the staring scenes between Kong and Ann kinda took a little too long at parts, but other than that, it was an excelent film. I don't think it will crush Narnia though. Narnia still had plenty of sold out shows tonight, and long lines to get it. Kong will probably prevail, but Narnia will be a close second.

I've just gotten back from seeing King Kong. It's okay; not great by any means, laughable at parts, and sort of awesome in others.

This may be a weird comparison, but in many ways, the movie reminds me very much of The Matrix Reloaded. There are just so many blockbuster action scenes stacked one after another that it starts to wear on you. After the fifth or sixth time everyone is in mortal peril, I honestly didn't care.

Also, it's far too long. I feel like I saw the parts set on Skull Island yesterday and the first third of the movie sometime last year. It drags and drags.

The CG is hit or miss. King Kong looks fantastic, but the interaction between filmed and CG elements is sometimes really awful. The other creatures are suitably gross.

I really wasn't expecting to like Lord of the Rings at all and, in fact, didn't see the first two until they were both on DVD. Those are fantastic, cohesive movies. King Kong is not of the same pedigree as LotR, even if its from the same filmmaker.

Saw it on Saturday, loved it. Wonderful movie, definitely in the Top 5 of 2005, and I'm pretty sure it'll get in my Top 10 all-time favorites. Too bad the Oscars will look for gay cowboys or whatever they'll have running next year, because this one was born a classic. And Jack Black really surprised me, he really worked. I just wished they'd given Adrien Brody's part to someone eles, Driscoll and Darrol had no chemistry at all.

I saw it & I though it was really done well. I think it was a bit long. I mean it was great & it was very well done but I still think it was a bit long.

I just got back from seeing it and I gotta say I was kinda disappointed. The acting was mediocre, the story was ho-hum and if I see another "slow-down-the-film-for-dramatic-effect" effect again in a film it will be way too soon. I thought Jack Black was too campy in his entire deliver and Adrien Brody just didn't seem to care. Scenes went too long with nothing happening, leaving me to think that entire film could have been an hour shorter and a lot better. I am really disappointed in Peter Jackson with this one. It had a lot of potential... but unfortunately Narnia is more of a Peter Jackson movie than this one.

Cut the time of the individual staring scenes in half, leave the film running at normal speed for the entire time and it would have been a much better film.

And what happened to Jimmy after that boat got smashed?

Considering that it is supposed to be a true remake of the 1933 version, which was only 104 minutes long, where did the extra 83 minutes come from ?
