Keys to the kingdom tour is it worth it ?

Traveling to the world in 82 days. I was wondering if the keys to the kingdom tour should be included in our current plans ?

I know the tour is probably worth the $99 per price tag but my worry is the trade off for the five hours the tour takes.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

I've done it twice (a good 15+ years apart.) Loved it.

I agree if you are on a short trip, or don't go very often, it might eat up some of your touring time.

I would suggest an alternative: The Marceline to Magic Kingdom tour. It's half the price, but still 3 hours, it just doesn't include lunch. It was easier to manage (I was starting to get antsy by the end of the 5 hour tour, even with the lunch break.)

There is some overlap between these two tours, they cover some similar aspects of Main Street, etc. You still go on at least one ride - maybe more (?) It just so happened we took this tour right before the Snow White ride was taken down. We rode it twice: once with the lights on, and then again in the dark, as usual. I appreciated that, especially with the ride being gone now.

So if you're concerned about the time and cash commitment of Keys, do Marceline. I enjoyed it just as much, the only thing is you don't get into the utilidors.

Yes definitely worth it. I've done this trip and backstage magic and preferred this one of the 2. And as others say better if you have a longer trip - mine were both part of 14 day visits from the UK and we always like to something different and special as part of our trips. May even do it again next year when we next visit to see if there are many differences or may try the Marceline to Magic Kingdom as mentioned by @Tony the Tigger.

My husband and I did KTTK a few years ago, and never regretted it. It was lots of fun, information, tour of utilidors and other back stage places, plus we got to ride HM and JC. Our CM absolutely "made" our tour. He was amazing and so enthusiastic for all things Disney. We got to eat at Columbia Harbor House for lunch, and that was the start of our love of CHH. It's too bad they moved the meal from there IMO.
I would not hesitate to take this tour, OP. Be warned, it is 5 hours of mostly walking. We did sit down for a few minutes when we were able. We are both seniors and we did fine with it. It's a wonderful tour.

An alternate tour you might consider is Marceline to Magic Kingdom.

We did that a few visits ago bc my then 14 yr old daughter was not old enough for the Keys to the Kingdom tour.

This tour costs less, but we still got to see the inner workings of the Haunted Mansion.

We enjoyed it. It was cool being in Liberty Square area before the park opened.

We had a little bit of rain on our tour.

I feel like for the price charged they should throw in a poncho! Don’t recall the price, but it is quite a bit less than the longer tour.

This one did not include lunch though.

The tour ended at Carrousel of Progress, so I had a FP for Buzz Lightyear Ride. Perfect timing.

We are considering Keys to the Kingdom since my daughter is 16 now. So I am asking the same question. Just like you, I think I am more concerned with the time spent.

Also, I have to say that going down under Haunted Mansion and behind the scenes might’ve been TMI for me!!!

My wife and I will be doing the KTTK tour in 3 days. Even though it is a short trip for us we felt it would be worth it partly because we have a annual pass this year so not having to actually pay for a park ticket for that day softens the blow of the cost of the tour. I'll post back next week and let you know if we still thought it was worth the cost after taking the tour.

My husband and I did the tour 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. We learned so much. I had always wanted to see the ulitidors so that was great. Seeing backstage and learning about how things are done was exciting. The tour guide was great and with our headsets, there was no trouble hearing everything he said. I would recommend it and we will definitely be doing it again.

I've been meaning to report back to this thread for a couple of week s now. Both my wife and I really enjoyed the tour and thought it was worth the price. The one thing that sorta reduced the value of it in our eyes was a misconception we had, in that the pin you receive is not a pin for trading in that it has a closepin back instead of a stud with a plastic Mickey head. Not a big deal but not what we expected. If you want more info on our tour my wife talks about it in her trip report which I've included a link to below.

We loved it! It is one my husband and my favorite experiences!

We did the tour during our trip last November & really enjoyed it.
The backstage stuff is fascinating & getting down into the utilidoors was very cool.
We both felt that it was money well spent.

I did this tour probably about 15 years ago. It was 100% worth it. I think you will really appreciate it if:

-You have been to Disney a few times before. I don't know if a newbie would want to commit to 5 hours of potential park time being spent on a tour. But if you are a seasoned Disney visitor, to me it's worth the time commitment.

-You are someone who is into Disney History. The utilidors don't seem like they have changed much since day one and that was cool to see. There are quotes from Walt on the walls, and old pictures too. I had seen some photos in books but it was great being there for real.

-You don't care about the magic (or at least some of it) being exposed. We got go behind one of the buildings in Adventureland, to the back area-trucks were making deliveries, employees walking around. It looked very much like activities at a 'regular' workplace! (I don't know why this surprised me:eek:, obviously i know Disney needs to get deliveries etc. it just seemed weird!) As has been mentioned you see the warehouse where the parade floats are stored.

Lunch (at Harbor House for us) was included, as was a no wait ride on two attractions.

If you decide to take the tour, I hope you will post your review. Enjoy your trip!:)
