My wife and I are going down Sept 22 - 29. I have read where people take the drink packets with them and add them to the water and then other people have water shipped to their resort and take them in the parks with them. I was wondering what everyone does to keep your water cool while in the parks if you take the water in with you. There is nothing aggrevating than being hot and want a drink of cold water but all you have is luke warm water. Thanks in advance.

If your hotel room has a refrigerator with a freezer compartment, you can freeze water bottles in there in advance, and take them to the parks with you. That will keep the water cool a bit longer (of course, you'll have to put up with all that condensation...:ROFLOL: )

Thats exactly what we did last August - the heat of the day melted the ice in the bottle so that it provided a nice mouthful or two everytime we were ready for a drink

I think that the use of the flavor packets was to hide the taste of the water from the (cold) drinking fountains.

Of course, I have no problem with the taste of the water fountains, so I usually empty and refill my water bottle every time I come across a really COLD fountain.

i read a post here where someone said they freeze the bottle, keep part of a small tube sock (clean :)) over it during the day for condensation. you could use the sock to clean little faces too i suppose.

The million dollar question!!! It's so tough to try to transport water, and keep it cool throughout the day. There are several mothods my fiancee and I use, feel free to use any of them!

1.) Fill a bottle halfway with water and put it in the freezer on it's side. When its all frozen, fill it up the rest of the way with water, wrap 2-3 papertowels around it and place it in a plastic bag. Secure the plastic bag around the bottle, right under the lip of the cap with a rubber band. The ice will melt evenly throughout the day ensuring that you have cool water all day long. The paper towel will absorb the condensation, and the plastic bag will catch it, keeping from getting your bag all wet. The papertowel will also keep the watter from dripping everywhere, so it stays kinda self contained.

2.) Get a "camelback"! A Camelback is a device that bikers use mostly. It is a backpack with a plastic like bag of water that fits into the pack, it also leaves room to carry other things. There is a tube that comes out of the pack, you squeeze the nozzle and water comes out! You fill it mot of the way with water, throw a few ice cubes in there, and voila! The great thing about this is that it really can hold a FULL DAYS worth of water, and will absolutley keep the water ice cold throughout the entire day because it is fully insulated. The best thing about the camelback is that you can put sandwiches, fruit, snacks, and all knids of things in there that will also stay cold all day long. The pack is pretty small, and lays pretty flat against your back. (think two packs of cigarettes, back to back...its about that thick.) You can get one of these at a spoorthing supply store for about 30 dollars.

Sorry I was so long winded...hope this helped!

They sell water bottle pouches in AK. They are specifically to keep water bottles cold (and they work wonderfully), and are only $10. You can even find some pouches in bed bath beyond, lines and things, or target to keep bottles cold (even for the large bottles). The best part, when the water bottle sweats, it doesn't get all over your clothes!
We usually freeze half and then pour cold water on top of the ice. It will last a good portion of the day in the pouch.
Hope that helps!

Freezer Mates

they sell a product in the shopping markets where you freeze an insert of a bottle, then just pour water into the bottle, the frozen insert is like an ice cube and keeps water very cold. The freezer insert is reusable, however, you'd need a freezer in your room for this. Hope this helps!

This is a great idea we froze water last year but did not think about the condensation so everything in the bag got wet :hammer:

We usually carry around a soft, insulated lunch bag with four bottles of water in it - two frozen, two refrigerated. By the time we finish the refrigerated ones, the frozen ones have just melted.

I've found that almost every single cast member will give you a small to medium cup of ice any time you ask....for free of course. Then we fill that up with fountain water and bam, you got your self some ghettofina!

We freeze bottles at night then they are ready to go the next morning. I'll take a frozen bottle and and bottle that has been in the refrigerator for each person. I wrap all the bottles up in either a dish towel, or hand towel from the room. Repeat each night so that you are ready the next morning.

We purchased a Brita water bottle (still available on ebay) and filled it from the fountains and then we also asked for cups of ice while in the parks...they give them to you for free....so we always had ice cold water

This is a little off-topic. We used to freeze bottles, but we've heard that freezing plastic bottles can release carcinogens (They say the same thing about microwaving plastics). There have been studies rejecting this claim, but since my mom found out she had cancer we've been taking extra precautions, so I felt the need to share this info, whether it's true or not. They say anything can cause cancer nowadays, though.
