Just when you thought there was no more money to be made in the parking lots

Why is it always such a big deal when Disney offers something new. Its not forced onto anyone, and many may find this offering convenient. For those of you who don't, continue your day and nothing will change.
Because it looks hideous?

I'll put it this way. I would expect more from Six Flags. I would expect more from the state fair. This looks like something I might expect from a LOCAL, COUNTRY FAIR.

But it's at Walt Disney World. If you can't do it right and make it look nice, don't to it at all. I don't think any rational person would suggest selling soda in a 95-degree parking lot is unreasonable. But do it with class.

Someone please tell me this is a joke!!! What next? Guys holding up post-concert t-shirts -- $10!

I mean I guess this is a step up from just selling bottled water out of your backpack, but seriously Disney? The person selling tamales at my local transit mall has a better setup than this.

Because no matter what Disney does, whether it makes sense or not, will always be frowned upon.

Finally, someone in this thread gets it.

Disney is the leading global theme park operator. They set the bar, and this is set very very low. As stated, it looks like a local country fair, not a premium experience.

Whoever OK'd this needs to be moved on. It is a clear example of what is currently going on in every facet of the company. Short term profit, and to heck with what it looks likes or damage it does to the long-term image of the property.

If this was a food truck, I'd be a little more impressed. It's not a bad idea, but like the cabanas, the execution was poor. It serves a need, but could definitely be spruced a bit (or a lot).

Agree 100%. 'Back in the day' Disney set the bar much higher. Even in Ft. Wilderness campgrounds (Musket bearing Mickey), they offered food and snacks for sale, but, it was presented in a classy and memorable fashion!

So much for the "show" and "quality" of the Disney Parks brand. I have no problem with a normal cart from the parks being used. Food trucks are unnecessary and cost $50k and up depending on amenities, but this is just cheap and tasteless. If this lasts more than a week it's a shame.

Walt Disney: ''how about we take all that amusement park stuff - restaurants, drinks, vending, rides....but instead of unthemed carts and bare steel rides we theme it all like, say, a turn-of-the-century street or exotic and fantastical places?'

Real quote. Yes. Definitely. Huh-huh.

Probably the same person that OK'd this.

This would be the modern day version, while not as classy as the original it would be way better presentation that the "golf cart"

and has some nice opportunities to add some magic graphics to it

I think things like this golf cart stand and the tent city are awful, eyesores, but both are potentially good ideas. This execution on them is just cheap, tacky, and ugly.

BUT I also think I'd rather an eyesore tucked away to the side of Tomorrowland or in the parking lot for a month or two if it saves Disney from wasting a large amount of money and park real estate in something no one wants. Just keep this stuff out of main park areas until they're ready to do it right.

TL;DR I'd prefer cheap, but temporary tests like this over huge wastes of money.

My opinion on this:

I like the idea. If my family plans to stay till closing, we pack some snacks and drinks in our car. We prefer to "tailgate" and rest for 20 minutes or so instead of waiting in line and in stop and go traffic trying to exit when everyone else is. There's only so much you can do with snacks and stuff that's been sitting in a trunk all day, so we mostly just have warm water, half cold soda sitting in a freezer full of mostly melted ice, and some chips. Being able to buy some food while we wait could be pretty nice.
