Just what everyone wanted a Death Star Spaceship Earth

Disney has been going a little overboard with these smaller Star Wars additions and events because they were unprepared to properly take advantage of the current Star Wars craze, that they created, because they didn't have any confidence in the franchise. Then they scrambled and put together a lot of mediocre fluff to fill the gap (years) until they can get a proper land opened.

These guys are the best. You gotta luv 'em.

Yeah the tell is that they scrapped SWW as soon as they had their claws on Lucasfilm, Yeah it was this little thing that NOBODY showed up for DHS was emptier on SWW than any other time of the year...

No I STILL can't wrap my mind around why Disney scrapped SWW other than the usual "It costs too much to run" from TDO.

The 501'st trooping was far more impressive than the 'Star Wars Fashion Show' DIS runs now...

Like I said, incredible. Keep complaining that we're getting an expansive, immersive land with multiple e-ticket attractions. Certainly that won't make you or this community seem like petulant children.

Um, DL is getting SWL,

So far not a shovelful of dirt has moved on the east coast version, Hopefully that changes soon and they start moving dirt and erecting steel, Wake me up when that happens...

I'm honestly more interested in what they are announcing at the event than the fact that they're projecting onto SSE. What are we expecting to hear? A new version of SWAGFFA to debut on the 8th after the refurb? New characters at Launch Bay? A last minute decision to do A Rogue One update to A Galactic Spectacular starting nightly when the film opens like they did with TFA? Are there any other additions they could do? Could we finally get Star Wars character dining?

First, I'll say that what WDW did to bring SW into DHS was super haphazard. Originally, it was just supposed to be a "season" of the Force in 2016. Then, all of a sudden, when they realized just how big TFA was going to be, all the elements of SotF got accelerated debut times until just about everything was premiering in December of 2015.

Then it became clear what their strategy was (which probably took time for them to determine themselves): They would squeeze as much SW attractions and shows into DHS on a permanent basis (and not for a "season") until the new SWL is built [and it is currently being built you DHS-SWL denier!]. Once it's up an running, all things SW will move into the new Land. Until then, they're cramming more SW stuff into DHS (the stage show, the night show). SWL exists now as sort of an overlay to DHS until its own Land opens.

So, what about SW Weekend? It took them a while to announce it's being scrapped. All the semi-permanent SW stuff in DHS makes it SW weekends and days all year round, and not just for one weekend. And then, all of a sudden, the big SW Convention is now happening in Orlando (off Disney site). With that big Convention in Orlando and DHS right nearby, there really isn't a need for a SWW anymore, especially since the place they hold SWW events, Streets of America, is no more.

SWW was made possible from a generous grant from Lucasfilm.

You know my feelings on the 501st. Query-when was the last time they appeared in a us park? TFA after party?

Huh? No, it isn't that they had no confidence in Star Wars. If that were the case, they wouldn't have bought it and wouldn't have announced a billion dollar expansion on two coasts before The Force Awakens even came out. Star Wars Land isn't any sort of response to a sudden surge in popularity or confidence in the francise.

The reason they delayed SWL so much is because they wanted to use the events and characters from episodes 7-9 and didn't know those back in 2012.

Whether you like that decision is your opinion. I think it's somewhat misguided. But the reason is not a lack of faith.

C'mon... it's better to drop that theory sooner than later. They talked about and released concept art for DHS's version at the D23 event two weeks ago.

To be fair, I should say that when Disney bought Lucas that did design a SWL and when Disney saw the response to the news of EP. 7 Iger was smart enough to say BIGGER! And they started over. It will be worth the wait.

But they should have had a lot of the smaller things in production anyway. It was a surefire hit. So why the scramble. I can sort of get why Frozen surprised them, but Star Wars?

The combined effect of the size reduction of DHS and the infusion of A LOT of Star Wars, DHS seems a titch schizophrenic.

From what I have gathered from your previous posts, you are some kind of IT specialist. If that is the case, you are very familiar with the fact that computers, when taken down to the base level, are run on a binary level. Binary is nothing more than ones and zeros meaning true or false, there is no in between. If you can honestly look at the DHS aerial views thread and still believe what you wrote above to be true then I would never trust any database you have ever managed or supposedly repaired.
