Pre-Trip Just the Two of Us- aka the kids are grown. :(

After 18 years of trips going to Disney with our kids, it is now just going to be the two of us for the first time ever! I honestly don't know how to feel. I am still excited and know hubby and I will have a ball but I will miss my babies being with me.

With that intro,

The dates- 5-9-5/15
Never been in May before. Hoping it does not disappoint. We wanted to go late February but welcomed a new grandbaby into the world a little early and had to cancel. He is quite cute and worth postponing. ;)

Where?
Coronado Springs! Because I do love it that much...

We became AP holders last year, knowing we wanted to go back before September of 2016, so this whole thing is kinda new.
We typically do free dining in fall and I love eating while at Disney so we did decide to go ahead and purchase the dining plan. It is cheaper for us for the places we like to eat.

Ressies are for
Cape May Cafe
O hana
Mama Melrose Fantasmic pkg.
Coral Reef
Tusker House (hoping I can get a RoL pkg, if they ever release it)
Cape May breakfast
Club Villain
We have eaten at almost everywhere there is and have faves we always do. This was a shorter trip, we are going back in August so not as many places as usual.
I have to say that at first I was kinda ticked that you can only meet Maleficent at this event, but, with that said, after seeing the reviews and videos, it looks well worth the price to me. I have tried to meet her at two different MNSSHP and did not get to. She is on the top of my character list. I am a 4 year old when it comes to characters. I am the most excited about this show!
The only event we have not gotten to see over the years is the F & G at Epcot so I am also very excited to see that.

Still feels strange to not have either of my babies going with us. I know I am going to miss them so much. Last year my daughter did not go, but I have never been without my son. The two that started this crazy Disney life, now go alone. Then again, I am just glad that we still have it to enjoy together and one day, we will all be able to go together again! Hopefully sooner than later.

Anyone with experience with May, please let me know what to expect. :)

I'll just go ahead and tell ya...you're going to have an awesome time! We've done trips both ways and each is fun in their own way but there is just something particularly awesome about the parents only trip.

We were there in May last year and it was amazing!! Temperature and weather was great and crowds weren't that bad at all! Longest wait time we had was 35 minutes for Splash, everything else we were on was a lot lot less!! Enjoy your trip!!

My husband and I went to Disney on our honeymoon and all our trips in the interim had been with our kids. In February I had a completely different experience when I went to Disney with just my sister. No kids, no husbands (even though we love them!), just us, and we had a blast!! I did think about my husband and kids at various attractions that are family favorites, but it gave me a chance to experience Disney in a new and different way. I took photos of myself doing the things I usually take photos of my kids doing (playing the drums in Africa at AK, trying on pirate gear at Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.) I sent the photos to them and we all enjoyed that. The sisters only trip did make me want to start planning another family trip, but it was great to enjoy Disney in a new way. I know this experience is a little different because with your hubby there you will naturally be more focused on your family not being with you, but I hope this helps! Have a wonderful time! Maybe you can start planning a trip to introduce your new grandson to Disney!

I hope so!! I feel almost guilty in a way right now. I will say that when I get there I will get over that!

I did a similar thing when I went to California with my husband's sisters. While there we went to Disneyland for the day. I have never lived that one down! They were all ticked at me even though I brought goodies back. We had a really good time though.

May is great. We've been going in May for the last 15 years for our wedding anniversary, and find the weather perfect and the crowds manageable.

Hope you don't mind me saying that, if the picture in your first post is recent, you don't look old enough to have grown children or grandbabies. :)

My DH and I did an adults trip to WDW in March 2015 and we stayed at Coronado. Highly recommend it for grown ups, the hotel was lovely and the food was awesome. I think my most enjoyable moments were on the plane, just reading a book - no one asking for anything, arguing, looking for food - just quiet! It was DH's bday on the trip so he got a lot of free desserts. We ate at the Maya Grill at Coronado which was fantastic Mexican food, also ate at Yachtman which I HIGHLY recommend for a special occasion. Pricey, but delicious! It was a perfect trip to slow down and eat well and rest and walk the Boardwalk at night. Our boys were a little upset at first, but their grandparents spoiled them while we were gone, so it all worked out in the end. Have fun and enjoy the quiet.

My wife and I loved Coronado Springs when we stayed last July. It was just the two of us and even though it was 98+ degrees every day we found it very relaxing. I'll bet it's even better in May!

I love Maya Grill. We may switch and eat there again one night this trip. If not definitely in September. We need to try Yachtsman. Never read a bad review I don't think.

May is a great time to go! We always went then when I was smaller. The flower and garden festival paired with hot but not roasting weather made our trips great. The crowds never seemed too horrible then, but I was little so I can't say my memories are all that accurate.

I am looking very forward to the weather. When we go in August/September I am a puddle after about 30 minutes lol it will be nice to not be quite as hot.

Have to say, doing the countdown, and not being able to send pics to my son, because he is not going, totally bumming me out! Never, been on any vacation without, at least one of them with us! :-(
