These aren't the normal splash around fountains I'm talking about. I'm talking about the decorative one In Italy in morroco. ;)

I have seen kids in the EPCOT fountains for the past 15 years. There are several of these that 'cry out' to the children to jump around in them, with the water spurting and shooting up. I may be wrong, but I believe it is Disney's intention for kids to play here. I've been tempted to jump in a time or two myself. Unfortunately, I have to settle for the occasional fake Coca-cola that lets off a some refreshing steam from time to time ;)
I don't think anyone is discussing the splashy play areas intended for small children.

I think everyone is discussing the actual fountains around WDW. :)

Many years ago when my daughter was about three we took a break and sat on the edge of the fountains in France. There were many people sitting with their feet in the water and a few letting their kids splash around in it. The two seconds it took me to look in my backpack she decided to swing her feet over and went right in the water. Ugh! The other people looked at me as if I grew a third eye because I gasped so loud and grabbed her out. It was hard for her to understand that she couldn't do that even though other kids were practically swimming in there. I put a plastic bag on her seat and we went to the water play area by Test Track. Thank goodness I always carried an extra set of clothes in her stroller back then and she was wearing sandles.

On our last trip to EPCOT we actually saw kids standing up on the rocks next to the leapfrog fountains by Captain EO trying to smack the water at each other. And I thought what the heck? Then later that evening we went to San Angel in Mexico and there were two boys around 8 or 9 in that beautiful little fountain playing tag...and I thought where are your parents? (I find myself saying that A LOT since I became one, lol.) I will admit though on a real hot day at Downtown Disney I'm one of the dorky adults trying to get wet in the splash fountains by the DesignATee shop.
