Just saw this posted on FB by another WDW fan site...

"WDI has filed notice of commencement for signage installation for the Magic Kingdom PIRATES ADVENTURE. Yo Ho let's go! #fb"

I've been out of the loop for a bit... what is the "Pirate Adventure"?

I'm not sure how to answer this. Because one videogame experience within a theme park should be enough. Although I understand some people love it - I think it an incredible amount of money to be spending on an experience that attracts and appeals to a very specific demo.

So based on no actual dollar amount nor having experienced it, you're declaring this project both a waste of money and "weird"?

I believe this game is part of the overall "Next Gen" project at WDW. Perhaps another form of the Sorcerers game that has been put into place. So if you're looking for a dollar amount, the overall bill is roughly $1B and climbing.....

While I'm not a fan of the trend toward videogame expericences in the parks, the demographic management is playing to gets bigger every year. More and more people are glued to a phone or an iPad or tablet of some type. WDW management recognized this when they finally gave in and provided widely available free Wi-Fi a daecade after most other companies.

There are even toys for toddlers now that allow you to "child-proof" these devices so they are safe for children to play with them. So in the very near future that very specific demographic to which screen technology is appealing and attractive will grow by leaps and bounds.
