While I'm not a fan of the trend toward videogame expericences in the parks, the demographic management is playing to gets bigger every year. More and more people are glued to a phone or an iPad or tablet of some type. WDW management recognized this when they finally gave in and provided widely available free Wi-Fi a daecade after most other companies.

There are even toys for toddlers now that allow you to "child-proof" these devices so they are safe for children to play with them. So in the very near future that very specific demographic to which screen technology is appealing and attractive will grow by leaps and bounds.

Problem is they already have screens in their hands. Why pay top dollar for more screens when we are all surrounded by them every moment of every day at home.

I like the XBox Santa left under my tree. I enjoy playing Disland Kinnect. But I can do it at home without the hassle and expense of a Disney World trip.

If that's the direction the parks are moving in, eventually there will be no reason to go.

I'm not opposed to the new interactive games like SOTMK, or whatever this may be. I think they add another "layer" of adventure for those inclined, without interfering with the rest of the experience. But, I think it will be interesting to see how they endure time. With the pace of technology and gaming, I can't see these lasting more than 5 years. Not that Disney will remove them necessarily, but I wouldn't be surprised to see their popularity start to wane in a few years. I have to wonder too, what Disney's long-term commitment to these are? Will they keep them fresh by updating them every so often, or will they just let them be until they rot like the way some other things seem to be right now. If anything, these are low maintenance, low-value add-ons to MK and perhaps elsewhere in the future.

I think that it is nice that Disney is adding to the park and hopefully making Adventureland a little more exciting. I just hope that it does not interfere with the average guest. Looks cool thought, I love pirates!
