Just realized my trip is on Labor Day Weekend

I'm not going to change it because I'll be on vacation at that time. But what is the park like on that weekend? Is it normally super crazy?

Since the first Mickeys Scary Halloween is on Monday Sept 1st (Labor Day) this year...have they ever had the Halloween decorations up so early and I'm curious to see if they would be up that Saturday and Sunday which means Halloween decorations up in August!

I have been arriving on Labor Day weekend since 2010. I usually get there Sunday. Crowds are not bad. Do not fret, just be smart.

Halloween decorations have always been up by the following weekend at the latest. This is the first year I recall a MNSSHP starting prior to the following weekend (Night of Joy weekend). So yes, the decor should be up that weekend. It will be interesting to see how the party effects the MK Monday. I plan on visiting that park that day to see.

We've been there for Labor Day also, and I agree with "busy but not Christmas busy". Also, MK is typically the busiest park on weekends anyway, so I would be prepared for that if you plan to go there one of those days.

There is a good site that provides great suggestions and info for every month/every day. I can't post the link here, but if you'd like, please feel free to PM me....or you may already be familiar with it, it's run by Josh. He has co-authored an Easy first-timers Guide to WDW planning book which was published this past June.

I have never thought that it was very crowded Labor Day Weekend. Heard horror stories that it was but this will be our 4th trip during it and it has always been great. Friday and Saturday are more crowded than the week following but not that bad at all. Out of early November, Thanksgiving week, which I would never do again and late Feburary- Early March it is my favorite time to go! Went to MNSSHP in 2008 on Sept. 5th (1st party of that year) and it was great. Hoping that it will be the same low crowds we had then. Have a great trip!

Hi
We have been at WDW end August/ beginning Sept for last few years on and off and don't notice any of the parks being any busier on labor weekend than the rest of our time in the world- (can't say the same for the on site hotels and pools which always seem chaotic!)
Can't wait for this year- we are finally going to be there for MVNSSHP on the first night (1st Sept) - we've seen the decorations go up each year but have always flown back across the pond before the first party night- so can't wait!

I haven't been on Labor Day weekend in several years but it used to be pretty dead a few years back. The kids are back in school by that point. Weekends will always have some crowds because Florida residents will drive in for the weekend but it should be manageable.

Thanks for all the replies! We are arriving in Orlando Friday the 29th in the afternoon, planning to go the the park all day Saturday & maybe only half a day on Sunday so we can be on the road & back to Fort Lauderdale by Sunday evening. We won't be in the park at all on Labor Day. So I based on the replies, I'm sure we will do just fine!

I went last year Labor day weekend, and it wasn't bad at all. South Florida children go back to school August 18th. Not sure about the rest of the state, but I am sure its around the same time.

I'm in South Florida too! Hey there neighbor! That's exactly why I chose that time, because kids just went back to school. Everyone has spent their money on back to school shopping, so I figured the parks wouldn't be too crazy.

Hey there! I'm in Miami ;) Yes you are right! This year we are going towards the end of September, but I would have chosen the same weekend cause last year it was nice.

Fort Lauderdale here! I had actually planned on going in the middle of Sept. originally. But we also are going out of town for a wedding & planning my daughter's 8th Bday party around that time, so it was just going to be too hectic trying to do all that. So I changed it to the end of August which means we get to go sooner too! Win win for us lol!

The early start should be about the same time for the whole state because of FCAT.

South Fl here too! Were going Sept 2d. Labor Day is listed as a 5 out of 10 on the crowd calendar overall. Week after is a 3 most days! Enjoy but be prepared for those afternoon thundershowers around 3pm everyday. They don't last long though. Have a magical trip!
