We just returned from a 4-night stay at the beautiful Wilderness Lodge. No dining plan, ate at Whispering Canyon, Cali Grill, Roaring Forks, Territory Lounge, Nine Dragons, Sci-Fi, Be Our Guest (dinner), H&V (breakfast), Chef Mickey (breakfast), Columbia Harbour House, etc.
Went to MK, Epcot & HS.
Anyone have any questions for me? Glad to answer..we had a great time as always.

Hi there!
We stayed at the Lodge so we had the opportunity to eat B, L and D there a few times the past few stays. While the ketchup joke gets old after the 2nd meal there, I do like the laid back feel and kitschy service in general. Our lunch server Jenny aka "Sunshine" was a doll. Ask for her. The food is absolutely delicious. Although for breakfast they have a very similiar selection for a fraction of the pice down the hall at QS Roaring Forks, I would absolutely reccommend lunch (quiet) or dinner (loud). The all-u-can-eat platter is great. The fish w/citrus crust was surprisingly amazing, cornbread moist, sliced beef smoked, good corn on the cob, etc. unlimited milkshakes. Worth going to check out the sensational lobby of the resort. 5-8 minute boat ride from MK or Contemp. Enjoy!!!

Hi! I'll be honest - I have mixed emotions about CG. I'm very nostalgic about the Contemporary and I'm not a huge fan of the new decor. A bit sterile although nice lighting and unparalleled view. Service and wine was very nice. My scallops had a wonderful sear but the pickled veggies that came with were inedible and I'm usually a fan of anything pickled! Only 4 scallops and the price was probably somewhere in the $40 range. For 2 credits, it's certainly worth it but also consider other options before you make your final decision. I personally suggest visiting CG for drinks and apps in the lounge area treating it like a bar rather than a full restaurant, all while taking advantage of the view..but perhaps saving your 2 credits for Flying Fish, Yachtsman Steakhouse or Citricos.

Any issues with your bands or FP+?
Not a thing! No problems, they were fun to use. Would have liked more than 3 FP's a day but we had no issues!

What there were issues with was the MDE app! Sometimes it went down and prevented me from making a last minute ressie at Crystal Palace for lunch. Ah well!

If you used the internal WDW transportation, how did you find it? Did you have to wait long for buses or boats? (We'll be at VWL in May! I'm so excited!) :)
I'm very excited for you! I've stayed at practically every WDW resort in my 38 years from concierge level GF to FW Campgrounds all the way to the all-stars...and I must say, the WL has to be my favorite!!!! It's peaceful, serene, high quality, well-themed, extremely well-staffed and cared for, charming and extremely convenient. I enjoyed the fact that it never seemed overly crowded. I had many a pleasant conversation with different cast members. It was truly homey. Great store for shopping. Definitely suggest Territory Lounge in the evening and rocking chairs on the lobby deck at dusk. Just really lovely.

We spent some time hanging at the Contemp this trip for shopping (I have always had a soft spot for Mary Blair's mural and memories of my stays there in the late 70's) and I feel it lost some of it's charm in general. Sterile, beige and full of conventioners. Very hustle and bustle. The Poly is a construction zone. The GF is gorgeous as are Y&B and my beloved Dolphin. But the WL is magical and the 5 minute quiet, peaceful boat launch to MK and the Contemp for monorail transfers is so easy. No waits whatsoever for the boat..no crowds to fight, and best of all no stops at 3 other hotels first. We only bussed to the Studios and the bus was right there waiting for us! Woohoo!

How were the crowds and wait time for rides?
Wait times were very reasonable! Except for Peter (40 min but we had a FP+). Space Mt was 10 min!! ToT and RnRC were crazy but just FP them and you'll be fine. Same for Soarin & TT. Milder rides had short waits :)

Good choices - and THANK YOU for avoiding the restaurant killing Dining Plans :).
Ha!!! The DDP never made sense for us. We aren't soda drinkers, dessert eaters or snackers for the most part. We eat extremely light and then do a "fancier" restaurant for dinner. Works for us. ;)

Did you use photo pass (or whatever it is called now) were there a lot of photographers out?
No photopass for us. I actually didn't see as many photogs as I thought there would be w all this photopass biz. We just took our own pics and they're great.

So excited to stay at wilderness lodge in august.. did you go to the pool at all? I'm hoping I can find some time to just relax at this resort, it looks so gorgeous in photos.
We DID spend time at the WL pool actually. Loooooove their pool! It was the perfect combo of lively and fun but still serene. The backdrop lends itself to the relaxing feeling. The slide and organized poolside games made it fun for my son. Cute bar, beach right there, toddler pool, near counter service/outdoor seating. Perfect pool set-up, really. Enjoy!
