Just got back from Star Wars Weekends auditions. It went very well. Having never auditioned for them before, it was a nice thing to have done. The auditions were just face auditions, Looking for people for Luke, Leia, ect. Left my house at 6:30 got there around 8:15. Got signed in, got a number, and then they looked at us. I am going back tommorw for movement and stuff auditions. We can only hope I can do something, even just a Storm T.

Good luck! I hope you get something. Then you get to hang out with Josh (mkepcotmgmak) since he will be very good friends with Chewbacca again this year!

it is a very good thing that you are going back for movement auditions. that more than likely means that you fit in somewhere for star wars! last year, at the auditions, if you didn't fit a certain role, then you didn't go to movement!

when you go to movement, wear comfy shoes, NO FLIP FLOPS... HAHAHA - and do your best! don't worry how you look doing the dance moves, and beware of the mirrors... AHHHHHH!

PM me and let me know how the audition goes! Hope you do well! If so, I'll be seeing you in MAY!

not for sure that the pic is appropriate for this site, but funny none the less...

and, actually last year a storm trooper did break it down to Outkast's "Hey Ya" at the end of the Hyperspace (almost typed Cyberspace) Hoopla. It was hysterical.

Even funnier was watching Chewbacca do his own dance to the Jackson 5 song "Dancing Machine," although, I never got to 'see' him do this dance, but I heard it was HILARIOUS... :lookaroun

Good luck, and dance with your face. If your face looks like it's having fun then you can get away with a lot of mistakes at audition. It's worked for me in these circumstances (also during performances).

BOY IS THIS TRUE!

I am not a dancer by ANY MEANS, but during auditions, I just had fun, and instead of being 'mad' at myself for messing up during the dance, i just laughed and had a great time! (not that my height didn't really just push me through the door though... LOL!) :lookaroun

I thought most of the "evil" characters (Stormies, Vader, etc) where members of the 501st Legion?

My wife and I hung out with one of their photographers a few years ago and she was saying that all of the evil characters are 501st members and the "good guys" were the Disney CMs.

Did this change recently...?

The 501st legion only comes in to be a sort of, 'pre-parade' before the Star Wars Motorcade begins. None of them do meet and greets, sign autographs, or are part of the shows, except before Motorcade. They can't be the bad guys, they are imitations. Disney actually flies in the bad guys from their galaxies, to be a part of this weekend. most of them do it for sheer pleasure of scaring the guests.

now if you wanna talk 501, that's a different story. most of them scare the guests by accident. :lookaroun

The 501st is a pretty cool group. I met a few of them at a convention last year. Actually won their raffle and got a bunch of SW prizes. It was cool. :)

i was amazed to see how many members there were, and they came in groups on different weekends, so i never saw all of them together! they were a very dedicated bunch, and nice to chat with before parades.

does anyone know where the name '501st' comes from?

OK!, well we went yesterday and did a dance/ movment and animation audition. We did very well and were all asked to waite back in the holding area. I and 5 others were picked to come back in and do a much harder dance. about 3 of us did well and we went back to the front. They called us up one at a time and what do ya know...I got in! Not for Starwars Weekends, but into their "character Pool" which means I past with a very high score, but they don't have anything for me right now, but I am in the pool for six months. So if anything comes up they will call me to come do it. Very cool. But sadly, no SWW. I guess I'll just have to come every weekend anyway, BUT, I called casting and I may be able to work out some Saturdays and Sundays, working Star Tours, which be fun during SWW, So i"ll keep you all updated, thanks for everyone's support! :) I had a blast!
