Weird question, but can you just check out a resort to see what it looks like? My wife and I will be at WDW in November at a conference and I was wondering if you can just visit a resort hotel to see what the grounds and facilities look like. A kind of mini-tour of the area. I know security is tight and most of the resort parking lots have guards and that's why I ask. I'm sure I can't just pull up to the gate and say, "Meh, I'm just checking out what the resort looks like." and they'd let me in, right? We're a fam of 5 and planning on 2017 as our next family trip and we want to explore our resort options.

Thanks!

A great way to check out a resort and also have lunch at the different resorts is to take "the monorail tour". You can hop off and on at GF, Poly, CR plus take a launch over to FW and WL. This is a great way to check the resorts for future stays and also to have
a little down time for a meal and taking photos. Welcome to the forums.

Absolutely! The only exception is during super busy times of year like Xmas or Thanksgiving. Sometimes they won't let you park in the lots without a dinner reservation during those times of year. Other than that, browse away!

I recommend checking out the deluxes.

A couple of weeks ago, I did just that. We left the beach a day early because it was just constant rain and headed back to Orlando since it was only occasional rain. I got off I-4 at World drive, drove on property right up to the Boardwalk. Told the guard I would like to check out the resort and he let me right in. Parked without issue. We visited Boardwalk, Beach Club saw SSE from the Boardwalk itself. Last trip I just drove up to Animal Kingdom Lodge and asked if I could just check out the resort and was let in no problem.

Well we'll just do that then! I appreciate all the feedback. I really want to see Fort Wilderness Resort. We've stayed at AoA and dined at the Contemporary, Polynesian, and Floridian.

Come see the Epcot area if you are there in the evening. Boardwalk entertainers, Jellyrolls, great restaurants.

The best way to see these resorts is to take a bus to the MK and a launch to the resorts.
