Just A Quick Question About ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter...

In all POVs I've watched in the attraction, just after Clench is teleported, there is a long ear-piercing scream that comes out of nowhere and is completely random. It is the same type of scream at the same time in all POVs I have seen of the ride. Can anyone explain who is screaming? A fake audience scream makes no sense as the alien has not appeared yet. It can't be the alien either obviously. In this video the scream is from 10:38-10:44. If you know about the ride can you please tell me which character is screaming, or did one audience member coincidentally scream a specific way?

The one you've highlighted was Clench shouting "Spinloch..." as the teleportation began and the machine controls began to overload.

It didn't go well. The implication is that he was suddenly in great pain due to the mishap. IIRC

That's the implication I had. Kinda scary, a Disney attraction where a character starts screaming in pain. It's not a cartoony moment with bangs and stretchiness, but a realistic, live scream as he gets disintegrated. Something about it just feels somewhat unsettling. What's even spookier is that he never appears again in the show. So the possibilities are:
  • He got teleported to some random place.
  • He got suspended... indefinitely.
  • I also heard this theory online that maybe the alien is Clench, just disfigured and distorted into a carnivorous creature. That just makes it even more disturbing. An optimistic CEO just wanted to meet new people and got turned into a death-machine because of it.
From what I heard, the original version of the ride ended with Clench comedically banging on the now closed tube asking people to open the tube. However they decided to take it a step further and completely evaporate him from the show. Am I the only one that finds these ideas somewhat dark for Disney?

You heard right about Clench banging in AE 1.0. (first version of the attraction that was deemed "not scary enough" by Eisner). IIRC in the final version Spinloch & Kathy Najimy's character say Clench was first teleported to the Alien's planet and the Alien was transported to earth when they tried to bring Clench back the first time. As to his final fate, your "suspended indefinitely" idea is probably the correct one. S.I.R. called it his favorite feature of the teleport system during the pre-show. All of these images are very dark for Magic Kingdom. And you left out the idea that the security worker on the catwalk was eaten and his "blood" (water) sprayed down on the audience below. For a lot of people (kids and adults) the harness restraint alone was scary. The whole attraction prompted seemingly endless parent complaints despite MANY warnings that it was not your average MK attraction. AE was meant to be cloned to other parks. Those complaints ended that idea. I loved it. It was creepy and intense, like an even scarier Tower of Terror. But, like Tower, AE would have fit much better at Disney-MGM/DHS.

Probably why they got rid of it much to my dismay. I loved that ride. Granted I got more of a fear than pain vibe from it all, but still the end result to me was pretty awesome IMO. I really miss it and still sad that Stitch is there

I really miss this ride. I loved it from the first time I was on it. The blood dripping on you was a great touch. I never laughed so hard.
It was terrifying. truly terrifying-I had chills on my spine from the "breathing" on my neck, the 'blood' splatter etc. Wonder if it was in a different park (other than bright optimistic happy MK/Tomorrowland) if it would have stayed longer?
I think the only other time I have come off a ride/attraction shaking like that was after the reverse bungee (Bigshot) on top of the Stratosphere in Las Vegas!

AE was awesome. It was never scary for me. I was so mad to see it go. Now I hear they are going to shut down another favorite of mine The Great Move Ride but that's another post.

I looked at the ride at Vegas and that is as far as I got.

Also, in the original version Skippy never started screaming, got burnt, and there was no moment when S.I.R. basically killed Skippy. Also Skippy and S.I.R. were a lot more goofy. They decided to make the pre-show darker so more kids would want to leave before the show started. Good move on Disney. Also I'm not sure but apparently Clench's scream in pain wasn't in the original show. Not sure though.
