Hi all,
Thanks for taking a sec to read this. I've already booked my AKKV stay for May. While down there we will be celebrating my wife's birthday. I have a couple quick questions regarding a dinner to celebrate the occassion.

As DVC members, how far out can I make an ADR or does it not make a difference?

Also, can someone suggest a restuarant that has a fabulous chicken or salmon dinner of some sort (wife does not eat red meat or pork and it cannot be fried)? I'd like it to be a really nice dinner for the two of us.

Thanks again for peeking at this and any suggestions that come my way.

In Oct( think the 27th) they are changing the ADR from 90 back to 180.

I have seen this passed around and it is help on making AR's. yes it makes a difference, I say make them, becasue you could find yourself not able to get a TS if you do nto make them.

For us we are a family of 4 so we usually have done buffets and thye have had chicken or fish. So as a nice dinner 4 two, I wil let someone else give feed back on that.

Yes, The Cedar Plank Salmon at Artist Point is my choice as well.

If you are there are the correct time of the year, they use Copper River Salmon.

For those who don't know, Copper River Salmon are wild caught in the Alaskan Copper River. The season runs roughly Mid May to Mid June.

The Copper River is one MONSTER of a river, and as a result the fish that are caught there are adapted to the river - being born there and returning to spawn. They have a very high fat content (thats good fat :) ) and muscle mass.

The rest of the year, AP uses "regular" Salmon. It's still really good, but not as good as the Copper River :)

As far as chicken is concerned, I found the roast chicken at Chefs de France to be quite nice. Not jaw dropping -I mean it is a roast chicken, but it was a good roast chicken. They have nice duck there too, if you are looking for a different sort of bird :) Chefs has a salmon dish as well, but I have never had it.

I second all the votes for salmon at Artist Point.

Seeing as how you'll be staying at AKL, what about Jiko? They have a delicious chicken entree. If you check out the menu, it's the Chermoula Tanglewood chicken and it comes with goat cheese mashed potatoes and preserved lemons. And as a bonus, if you're a meat eater, you'll find the best filet on property right here!!

We celebrated a birthday here and the staff was great. They really took care of us and made it a special experience.

Here's a picture of the chicken, it's soooooo good:

Just for the heck of it. Here is the Copper River Cedar Plank Salmon at Artists Point

And if you go there, then you must of course have the Smoky Portabello Soup as well

Jiko is a fine option

I second the comment / suggestion by HollyBelle that, since you are staying at AKL anyway, you should seriously consider Jiko, as it is a fantastic place. It has great atmosphere, an incredible wine list, and some fantastic food. There's also the benefit of being right at your resort for a romantic stroll around the savanna viewing areas for after dinner.
