Jurassic Park Ride

Is it possible to ride this and not get wet? We have been on Splash several times and have barely felt a drop, is the Jurassic Park River Adventure similar? I really really want to ride this when we go in 10 days but I HATE walking around with wet clothes all day. I have tried to find out about it on other websites but it just keeps getting described as a "water ride", can anyone tell me what to expect? Kali or Splash?

It is more similar to Splash. I have been on it and only gotten a little wet like Splash. It all depends on where you sit on the boat on how wet you get. I have never seen anybody soaking wet from that ride, but that is not the case when you talk about Ripsaw Falls or the Bilge-Rat Barges.

Yup--you're not likely to get too wet on this ride. I'm like you--I don't mind getting splashed, but I really mind getting drenched. I've never had a problem with Jurassic Park. Mind you, from watching the ride from the splashdown area it looks like you'll get drenched, but you really don't.

Thank you both so much! I know that we definitely will be avoiding the other water rides at UNI/IOA but I really want to go on the Jurassic Park ride!

Will you get wet? It IS a water ride, so remember what you're getting into when you get on the ride. I find that if you sit in the back you won't get as wet as you do in the front. You can ask to sit in the back and 99/100 times they'll let you.

You can always take a poncho and cheat your way to staying dry! :)

Have fun.

Heading for the great escape.
If you sit in the first two rows on the left side you do get very wet.

You can always activate the tart option and wear a poncho.

Universal has something I had never seen elsewhere that I thought was so neat - People Dryers! You pay $5 and can step inside and have the heat dry you off. I would imagine that it would not fully dry you if you were drenched, but if you're concerned about getting damp on this ride, then you can plan to warm up and dry off in one of these.

I didn't know about these! Thanks!

I, like you hate getting uncomfortably wet on rides... I just don't find it fun being in soaking clothes for the remainder of the day plus it has ruined my sneakers/trainers before. This is why I unfortunately refuse to ride Dudley Do Right's and Popeye....

However.... I always ride Jurassic Park and have never got particularly wet regardless of where I sit. I can confidently say you will be ok riding this ride.

Having said that Jurassic park AND Splash in California are entirely different... on Splash I get SOAKED and JP you definitely get wetter than it's Floridian counterpart. Whether this is intentional or not I'm not sure.

Yeah, there is no way we will be riding Dudley or Popeye. Wet shoes are the worst thing ever, especially since I'm trying to reduce the amount of bookbags and extra stuff we are going to take to Uni/IOA (which means no extra change of shoes).
I think I have pretty much talked my husband (and myself :)) into riding Jurassic Park. Thanks for your help!

The lap bar is huge on this ride so your belly-area will not likely get that wet, from the chest up will get wet. How wet will depend on which row you are on....

...O and you will get the inevitable wet bum!

If you're interested, I have a photo I took of one when we were there, but I never can figure out how to embed photos in my posts on here. If you'd like me to email it to you, send me a private message where to send it.

I would say that you get about the same wetness on JP as you do on Splash Mountain.

Its a shame that you get absolutely drenched on Popeye - its an AMAZING rapids ride, probably the best in the world, but its rare that I feel like getting that soaked to ride it.

Agreed, I love the ride. However I don't love being as wet as if I'd just visited Typhoon Lagoon fully clothed.

Oh wow I didn't know this either and would love to see a photo-I think you mentioned you have one. Very cool!

PS-HEATED dryers? That's the last thing I want to step in when it's 95 degrees in Central Florida  I guess it's meant for cooler times of the year when it's uncomfortable to walk around damp instead of air drying?
