Remember when this park was being built and in the ride info it said that the t-rex was suppose to lunge at you nefore you drop? He just sits there. What happened to that idea?

It wasn't build. Doing some basic calculations on the back of a napkin, Universal figured out that it would cause structural problems to the ride's concrete foundation if they were to build a massive T-rex that would swipe at guests with the power of a 747 taking off.

I see you are new here. There is a Universal forum existing too here, this however is WDW parks general discussion forum. Please discuss your topic in the right forum.

I've seen him lunge but a few times it seems as though it's not as exaggerated. I will say though that the lighting has changed. Sometimes he's not so well lit and other times he's very well lit.

Also confirming that it does lunge it's head down at you just as your boat begins to drop. I have only seen this *not* working a handful of times.

I think the Hollywood version of the ride is much better, especially the end, where the T-Rex flips out of the waterfall at you.
It may not be realistic, but when seen in person it's very startling.
Go to 4:30 and watch from there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oi6WZTK1nRk

...or watch the whole thing to see the awesome"falling land rover" effect at 3:10

yeah the hollywood one looks awesome!

Except the timing on the dino that pops up out of the water was horrible. It's supposed to look like they've come up out of water right next to you and bumped you off-course away from your intended destination of Hadrosaur Cove.

plus, you can see the "track" that the jeep runs down the wall on. The jeep effect is the only thing about the Hollywood Version that is less impressive.

Actually no, I take that back. IoA's has a MUCH better queue and loading area and, of course, it's own themed land surrounding it.
