I have been dying to review this location, and we finally dined here yesterday for first time. The pros; great atmosphere, incredible cast. The cons; the food.
The food was not even edible. in fact it was the first time ever I felt sick in a Disney park just by the smell of the plate. The food tasted and smelled like they had literally dug it off the bottom of the jungle cruise water ways. Yes that bad. I could not even eat it. I know I should have said something and yet I didn't, which was entirely my fault. The shrimp was disgusting, as was the rotted wilted greens on the side, so I thought well the rice should be okay, it wasnt and tasted just as bad like sewer water. The menu isnt real great to begin with and of course the servers push the steak because its the most expensive.
I love trying new things and not all that super picky, and I knew going in the menu would be different, but its too different, and not worth the prices they are charging for this stuff. I would love to go back because it was fun and relaxing, but I would be afraid to order anything here again. Family members had the fish, but it was just in some watered broth with a few vegetables. so A+ for theming and service, but huge F for food.

Having had the shrimp, to say that your experience is unusual is putting it mildly. I guess every chef has an off night but that's completely bizarre. If your food was inedible you should have mentioned it to your server to get it fixed. The food was one of my favorite meals on my last trip.
