Hi, all.

Had the family at WDW in mid-May and Jungle Cruise was undergoing a refurb........can someone tell me what was being done and if it is indeed done.
I had heard that lights were being installed for night cruises.....any truth?

Thanks

It is indeed finished. The majority of the refurb was spit and polish. I do not know if lights were installed for night cruising.

The refurb you speak of was merely 2 weeks long, and some minor touch-ups were performed. Rumor is that this refurb was a chance for WDI to go in and see what really needs to be fixed in a much longer refurb in the future. The two major things done on this go-round were a complete replacement of the queue dock and the removal of Chief Nami from the attraction. Fear not, as an Imagineer told me that the Chief is simply out on cycle, and should be put back into the attraction once they have a chance to clean up his innards.

To anyone who's been on the JC recently...is Nami back yet?

As for the night cruises...there are already lights on the boats that serve that purpose.

Are there still any rumors that the Jungle Cruise might be replaced by something else in the coming years due to the fact that it now sort of duplicates Animal Kingdom?

Tks,

:)

Not that I have heard as it really does not duplicate anything at AK. It would be like replacing BTMRR because of E:E.

Plus JC is a true classic. I think it's pretty much the only existing attraction that was a 1955 Disneyland opening day original. If they got rid of Jungle Cruise, there would be an uproar from Disney purists.

The chief is back... DH and rode JC on Aug. 5. The queue is a lot cleaner now. A funny sign was inside a cabinet where the CM are. It said there were extra shifts available.

Yea, there's night cruises all the time. If you have never been on one, go. Us skippers tend to go mad from the heat/stress of a long day of work, and night cruises tend to be funnier.

EDIT: Yea, the JC will never be taken out.

Nami has been back for a while now, looking better than ever.

As for a big JC rehab, Lasseter and his crew rolled through in...I guess it was April/May, and the Skipper who gave them the tour said they were talking about a biug rehab, but I have no clue if that's true.

Did they add the night lighting recently?

The reason I'm asking is that we went on the JC a few years ago at night and you couldn't see much of anything. In fact the JC skipper was joking about it.
He said, "Do you know why you can't see anything right now?
<Pause>
It's because it's night time."
(You had to be there.)

Tks.

I agree 100%! We always do Jungle Cruise at night. DH wanted to do it during the day his 1st trip, but we went back to do it again at night for me. It's so much better at night! :)

Nami was back early July. The ride looked the best it has done for a long time. New colour water, all air hoses fixed for the AAs (which have new skin and paint), new mist generators, new dock as mentioned above.

The big rehab will follow in a year or two. The ride needs a new canal.

What color is the water?
