jungle cruise, the movie

It was cute, not amazing. I saw it in 4D which was fun. I do love The Rock and I appreciated the diverse and inclusive characters. Overall, Disney should only release movies based on rides if they have a really great story to tell.

Absolutely loved this movie. It was fun, had plenty of tongue and cheek humor, with some great entendre with Rock and others. Action was good, effects were pretty good. All in all it was more than I hoped for. I am always worried when a lot of hype comes out in a movie, but I thought this was really very good. Laughed throughout.

Now looking to see if they get a sequel, and hear talks are already starting.

I wasn't super excited for this movie based on the trailer. It looked like it would just be a non-stop parade of cartoonish special effects.

Thankfully, the movie turned out to be a little less frantic and was generally fun.

The characters were generally fun and a big part of the movie's success was due to the chemistry of the actors. Not really a surprise, Dwayne Johnson is always charismatic.

There's a lot to criticize about the movie. Nothing felt particularly original. The opening scene of a nerdy scientist trying to convince an audience of skeptics about some mythical thing was straight out of Stargate or Disney's own Atlantis. The cursed villain's felt straight out of Pirates of the Caribbean. Some moments were too unrealistic for my taste, like the ship managing not to be pulled over the waterfall despite being right on the edge. The special effects were mediocre. The final scenes in the cave were too dark.

Still, it was fun. The sense of humour and adventure felt true to the spirit of the Jungle Cruise attraction. It fell a little short of other movies it has been compared to in my opinion (The Mummy, Pirates) but I enjoyed it enough that I am onboard for any sequel.

All joking aside, I would love to see them do the Nile for the sequel, and include Brendon Frazier to do some of his Mummy stuff.

I finally watched it and it was ok. Not bad but definitely not great. It borrowed way to much from pirates and the mummy. Most stories borrow from other stories, I get it. But at least try a little bit to distance it from your other big movie based on a ride in adventure land. What I was glad to see they didn't take from pirates was action scenes that drag on way too long. Jungle kept them the right length. Hopefully the sequel does its own thing and isn't so formulaic.
