Oh NO!!! We are going on May 12th! I just told my husband and he freaked! (It's one of his favorites!) He just said WHAT THE ****!! UH OH! Sorry to any guests who are reading this thread looking for information on the Jungle Cruise.
Things DL has that MK doesn't:
Mist/Rain as you first enter the jungle
Explosions in river, caused by the apes who raided the camp
Pirahnas (awesome effect)

DL still uses cap/blank guns, don't they? As opposed to those techno-mc-bang-bang pistols at WDW?
Some of the time - i think? I only recall seeing the cap once and most o the time getting "Shoo - bad hippo!" as they try flail the gun at them in the dramatic queen moment on earth.

They were still using the cap guns back in August, so I doubt it's changed in the last few months.

As of 2 summers ago they were still using the cap guns. Don't know about currently though.
In my opinion, DL has a much better 'soundtrack' for their Jungle Cruise. The animal noises seem to be more authentic, etc. I could be wrong though.

I only got to ride it once during my January trip (went down for rehab the day after I got there), but I'm pretty sure it was a cap gun.
Fun Fact: back in the day, they used to use the pistols as a means of signaling back to base if there was some type of emergency. There was a specific list of what a certain number of shots meant.

and this on the Carousel of Progress:
"…Apparently, the new "Dream House" opening in the Innoventions building at Disneyland has a twin being designed for Florida. A rumor that we've received notes that it may targeted for the Carousel of Progress building as "they had to keep many design specifications the same between the parks because of the moving walls." We have no independent confirmation on this, so we'll have to wait to see if this rumor bears fruit."
