Jungle Cruise Re-Imagining

I’m torn on this, because I actually really like how the map looks but I also understand why having an map of the ride layout doesn’t make sense right before the ride. I don’t known if this makes any sense, but I feel like it would look great anywhere in Adventureland EXCEPT the queue for Jungle Cruise.

Also does this confirm WDW was supposed to get the piranha scene Disneyland has? It’s definitely represented on the map.

It's set up for a joke on the chimp boat. One of the reasons the skipper on the Trapped Safari crashed the boat is because he packed Disneyland's map for an excursion on Magic Kingdom's river, while at Disneyland, it's the other way around. Either way, there's a chimp messing around with the map and tearing it up.
Here's the Disneyland map for comparison.

I actually don't mind this map as it looks a lot grander in scale than the MK version, which looks more intimate cartoony. I don't think this hurts the suspension of disbelief so much as it makes it look like the area you're traversing is epic in scope.

Now we are talking! PIRANHA now that would give the absence of people AA's along the river some reality. Also give the skippers more material to work with.

Terrible! And the biggest takeaway from the Twitterverse is "Can we buy Alberta's dress? Can we buy her fannypack bag purse?"
I weep for future generations. This is FAR TOO MODERN to be in-theme! WTH, Disney!?
I'm really not sure who Alberta Falls is in that picture... Is she the one in the foreground? Or, the lady holding the clipboard in near the boat? If I were to guess, the lady in the foreground is Trader Sam. But, what do I know? 🤷‍♂️

Have I told you lately that I 👍 you?

The lady in the foreground. The backstory was apparently developed for the Skipper Canteen back in 2015. She’s the granddaughter of Albert Falls, Albert Falls Jr. married an Indian artist and their daughter, Alberta, grew up around the skippers and started the cruise company in the early 1930’s.

What is the general consensus on the new ride elements and the ride as a whole? I could only find articles "reviewing" it that simply talked about how much less offensive it is.

That's great and all but is the ride actually good with these changes? Anyone been on it?

Not speaking from first-hand experience, but from what I've seen others say, the majority of the changes within the ride itself seem good. The boat that's broken in half seems to be the highlight since it adds a lot to an area that was previously fairly lackluster, and the people trapped on the pole have a lot more individual character now. Issues I've seen mentioned are that the bait shop is static and redundant, the gift shop was clearly conceived of with Disneyland's viewing angles in mind, and the elephant at the end was animating somewhat wonkily, though I am unsure if this has been resolved.

I was on the dl version a few days ago. Was very happy with the ride, also had a great skipper.

Maybe it has been posted already but the tribal chanting is a choice. I don't hate it but it really makes the temple foreboding before the chimes, which I am glad were not lost.
