With the writers strike coming up next year, the major studios are pushing HARD to get as many projects through before the stoppage. It is anticipated to be a long battle and could wipe out the 2009 slate of films if movies aren't stockpiled. Anyways, beyond the business, I was at filmjerk.com and came across a hot list for each studio and found this interesting for Disney.

I hadn't heard of an Adventureland movie myself, has anybody else? Will it be based on Tiki Room? Maybe it will be a movie about Dole Whips? Or even a flying carpet movie? For some reason I keep thinking the Jackie Chan "Around the World in 80 Days" when I think of a film version of Adventureland. It could also be a fake name as well. As long as it has something about spitting Tikis, I'll be happy.
I also found a few other items interesting. Disney with a new Alice movie? America McGee anybody???

Don't forget the mad rush on
WALDEN

Don't worry. It's actually a Miramax production and has nothing to do with the Disney theme parks. It's based on Mottola's real-life experiences working at Long Island's Adventureland park. Here's a synopsis:

Adventureland is set in the summer of 1987, and tells the story of a recent college grad who, instead of going on his dream vacation to Europe, is stuck in a minimum-wage job at an amusement park for the summer. Convinced he's not going to have any fun, he instead ends up making new friends, finding love and gaining valuable life experience.

Disney seems to be falling for more remake fever judging from 20,000 Leagues... Why don't they do a Journey Into Imagination movie? That would be awesome...

Disney isn't making the new 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. New Line Cinema is. It's being produced by Sam Raimi and Josh Donen.
