stitccastle, I've noticed that you've posted in some very old threads that bump them up on the forums. Please note that it is an annoyance for some members and I ask that you refrain from bring more back from the dead.

Aren't you guys always complaining about how people shouldn't start new threads on subjects that have been discussed in previous threads? And then you tell them how easy it is to do a search for the same topic. So how is it an annoyance that the guy is doing just that? Doesn't that save "bandwidth" or whatever?

Here Here! You've brought up a great point...it's one or the other: you can't have both!

Back on the subject of the movie, the reason I don't think it will work is because the style of humor in the attraction wouldn't translate well in a film. People expect both the jokes and to an extent the effects in the JC to be corny. People expect movies to have good jokes and good effects. If the movie tries to translate the corniness it will not work. There's plenty of adventure/comedy movies that work (Indiana Jones 3, Romancing the Stone, etc) but I really don't think it is going to work here unless they translate the ride extremely loosely. Really, it COULD work, I just doubt it will.

And as for adapting rides into films, Disney made a statement about no other rides being made into movies, then they announced this. Hopefully, it will be the last. The WDC really seems to be lacking in originality these days. Or maybe it always did? It seems that almost every classic is an adaptation of some sort or another. But that's opening a whole other can of worms that I don't want to get into.

Am I the only one who feels this is going to be a disaster? Maybe it's too early to tell, but I really don't think it's going to translate well. Pirates worked really well because of the story inherent in it. HM could have worked, but it was terribly botched. Maybe I'm pessimestic but I have very little faith in this adaptation. It just doesn't seem to fit. The JC works because it plays off of it's own corniness. That just won't work in a movie.

I don't think Pirates really followed the story of the ride. They just utlized scenes from the ride. But non of those scenes really drove the movie.

Which is one movie that inspired Walt to build the J.C.

It's a VERY good movie too.
I think it's funny. It's a movie, that's based off a ride, that's based off a movie.

Kinda like the Producers... a movie-musical, based off a musical, based off a movie...

Hollywood today. No creativity.

It took me about 2 minutes to figure that one out. Confoosin'. (Any FRIENDS fans here? Remember the episode where everyone found out about Monica and Chandler and there was that part with "We knew that you knew, we knew, you knew." lol Reminded me of that. :D)

Yes, thats the joke. Apparently i was too subtle.... I find it hillarious that we're going to make a movie out of an attraction that was inspired by a movie.

Hmmmm.... Im Thinking something like "The African Queen" might work. Something along those lines....

Good one, Dave.
Thing is...they'll never make a JC film anywhere near as good as "African Queen"...so why bother? :veryconfu
