We always go in March and was thinking about a 4 day trip in late July. I've heard nightmares about this time of year. :). Thoughts about going then from the experts?!

My sister in law goes the very last week in July every year and she loves it. She never complains about crowds. I know March can get busy with Spring Break crowds but not sure how comparable to the end of July that can be.

Since I'm a teacher and DD's sport kept us away at other times, we have been going in July for the past 5 years. It's crowded, but tolerable. If you steer clear of value resorts and try to eat a table service restaurants, you can (mostly) avoid the annoying tour groups. Although I must say, they were significantly less annoying last summer. DD is graduating this year, so we will probably switch our yearly trips to mid-August next year. I guess what I'm saying is that with proper planning, July can be a great time to visit!

We always go in August, but I agree with @PineapplePrincess that proper planning will help you and your family to enjoy the most of Disney at any time! Just know that it's going to be hot and crowded and don't set your expectations too high (meaning don't try and do everything) and you won't be disappointed. Also, some advice would be to hit the parks during the morning at rope drop and maybe go back to the hotel to enjoy the pool and take a rest (or possibly a shower rinse off) and head back out to the parks in the early evening.

No matter what, you're at the happiest place on earth and you are bound to have a great time!!!!!!

Our preferred summer month is June. It's not quite as hot or crowded as in July. We went once on July 4 and swore never again. Well guess what...we are going again in July because one of my kids is taking a summer college course and it doesn't end until then. Like others have said, it's doable with planning ahead. I will have all my reservations and fast passes done before we get there. I can start doing my fast passes May 15 or 16. My only concern for you is that I'm assuming you haven't booked your July trip yet, so you are already going to be behind in your fast passes. I'd get those reserved as soon as you book.

I had complete fears going in July last year. We have normally been during less crowded times. The only advantage we had for this trip is that we were there 6 months earlier. We have also been many times prior. For us, it is do the biggest things you want to do early and fast. As the herds get caught up in longer lines, the smaller rides have quicker lines. We made plans that we would spend the entire afternoon at the resort and decide what we wanted to do at night. Most of the time it was pin trading at DtD. I was actually surprised at how much we got done in the mornings until about 1PM. Then it was back to the resort for hours of pool games. My daughter said it was the most fun trip she had because she was able to just have fun and not rush around.

If you are staying in the parks past early afternoon, you are dealing with high heat, high humidity, massive crowds, parents getting near wits end, kids getting cranky.

I went in July once and I thought it was a nightmare and I'll never go back (in July). So many people and too hot. I was diving into the shops just to get some AC. I remember being at MK...lines were crazy, it was so hot, we just left to get some drinks at the poly and came back at 9 and it was nice.....This was also before kids, when I had that option haha

I'm so spoiled with off season crowds, that I don't think I would ever do July. I think you get more for your money that way. I know lots of people don't have the option of going when they want, but if you have the choice... don't do it!

My grandparents used to bring me to Disney over July 4th, and back then I promised I'd never subject myself or my family to the combination of crowds and climate. If I have to visit in the summer, I go at the end of August, when the southern kids are back in school.

If you don't mind crowds in extreme humidity then anytime at Disney is a great time IMO. I use to go late July/early August. Then I discovered June...which costs more but less humidity.

Did it. Never again. Don't... Just don't.
(Unless you like five packed like sardine in a thene park with tens of thousands of other sweaty people on a 97 degree day with 100% humidity and instead of riding "It's a Small World," you'll be experiencing "Body Orders Around the World..." In line side rides, bathrooms, dining and transportations.

Really, it's that bad.

Obviously, if you can go outside of major holidays and Summer, you will enjoy smaller crowds. Unfortunately for many people, that is just not an option.
