I am leaving with my family for WDW next Monday!!!!!!!!!! Can anyone tell me what the crowds were / are like and what I should expect. I know that this is normally a busy time of year but with the economy the way it is I am wondering if things are different. Thanks a bunch

They were'nt too bad for me. The only thing that annoyed us were the Brazilian tour groups. For the whole week our camp that we were in were always making jokes about them. They were all clapping and chanting so we would do the same and have competitions. Walking out of EPCOT after Illuminations every tour group was there and everone was singing the same song at the same time and all you could see are all the same colored shirts and the flags they were following.
Back to the crowds now, the longest wait for TSM that I saw was 100 minutes, shortest was 50 but I never go to ride it :(. I only waited 25 minutes for Everest. Everything wasn't too bad.

You are coming in the summer. It is hot. It is crowded. The lines are long. And it rains every day. If something is important to you, do it early in your trip and early in your day. If you choose to sleep in every morning, and arrive at the parks at 11 AM you are going to be miserable. If you can't find a character, ask the first day where they are. Don't come up to us at closing and say how important it is that you see Goofy and this is your last day when he has been available every day for you. Don't decide when you are hungry that it might be nice to have a sit down meal. If you haven't make your reservations yet, you are going to be frustrated. Learn to enjoy counter service food if you haven't make reservations yet.

But I'm saying this not to you, because you are wise enough to come to a Disney website and get info to plan for your trip. It is those who do the above that get confused and frustrated and yell at me because I won't let them in to see Goofy.

We have some friends that just got back from their first WDW trip ever. I tried to warn them, but they wouldn't listen. They didn't enjoy it b/c of the crowds, heat, and wait times. They only went for a week and despite my suggestion they didn't make breakfast reservations to eat with Chef Mickey. They even told their children that they were eating with Mickey. I tried to tell them they weren't w/o reservations.

They were ready to come home after only 3 days. :(

They didn't get to ride ery many rides and never got to see Mickey. I almost cried for them.

I have never been during July, but we have been during spring break and i can only imagine that it is worse than that.

I hope that you enjoy it more than our friends.

We leave next Monday too....maybe we'll see you there!

We have a CM friend that told us the crowds are a bit thinner than in the past, but it's still really crowded. The weather will be crazy hot, but we plan on breaking in the afternoon to survive the week. Either way, you're in Disney so have fun! :ROFLOL:

Thanks for the responses. I have been to WDW in every month of the summer and know what chaos awaits me and my family. I was just wondering if it has eased up this summer b/c of the gas prices etc. Anyway waiting in line for 45 minutes to see Mickey is still better than sitting at my desk for 45 minutes thinking of WDW.

We leave next Friday! We have gone from rain, rain, rain...flooded highways, no running water, wildlife moving to high ground..etc., due to flooding, back to high heat and humidity...along w/ those pesky mosquitoes and West Nile Virus discussion on the news EVERY NIGHT. So, if I am going to be hot and miserable, I'd rather be hot and miserable at WDW vs. southern Il.

Mickey & Minnie: I am sorry your friends didn't have a good trip. Hopefully they will give it another try with a bit more planning to make things go better. We have been at MK on Christmas Day (several times) and still managed to get in our favorite rides, dinner with Mickey and the gang at LTT and catch the parade. So even with crowds you can get things done. Unfortunately many people just don't plan accordingly and some even lose it when things don't go 'picture perfect'.

^^^I know that I woul have been appy crowds, heat, and all...but I was sad that they did not have a wonderful time. I feel like that they will not want to spend the money to give it a second chance. I tried to prepare and warn them..that is wht they get for not listening.

My girlfriend and I leave next Thursday! I know it is going to be crowded but it is hard to go during the off season when in college. We are staying at Coronado Springs, I am hoping there is not a huge conference or anything there. I made all the ADR's so we won't have to worry about food. Now I just need to practice waking up at 7am to be at the parks for opening.

If anyone has gone recently, are the night extra magic hours any less crowded than the parks are during the day? Do these huge tour groups usually stay on or off property?

We leave in just a few days. I have been checking the weather. It looks like it will be cooler in Florida than here at home. Today was 99...and a red hot day at the ball park (Go Cards!).
