I don't know if it will be full "presentation ready" by fall, but I think it will be close. Don't forget with the rock work on BatB they were also doing rock work on LM, so with all the focus on the mountain, it should go up twice as fast. It may not be fully painted, and sculpted, but there should be enough that the majority of the steel is covered which would really help tying into the illusion.

If that is the plan, it would coincide with the idea that the rest of New Fantasyland will be open by Holiday's 2012. So while the Mine Train will not be open at least most of the outward appearance would be ready. Here is hoping that is the case.

Yes you can easily see how they could open Beast and Mermaid soon and deal with traffic flow even while construction continues on the magical mountain. (it better be magical)

Thanks for the great photos Scott.

BTW - For anyone that hasn't visited Scott's website, take a few minutes to browse it. There's some great photographs there.

That's the thing - if it goes up twice as fast even, that's about 6 months and for construction you can still only have so many people you can throw at one aspect of a project before everyone is in each others way. I don't know, at this point close seems out of reach to me too. In the grand scheme of things it's not a huge deal - I guess it was more about curiosity than anything else.

I still don't get how they install track INSIDE of all that twisted mess of steel. Seems to make more sense to lay track on the brown support beams prior to enclosing it in the silver steel. Weird.

It does because the track will have to be put in place using chain falls or super small lifts - it's a lot of man handling for sure. On the flip side though, if they are trying to push to get the exterior finished as soon as they can it makes perfect sense, since it would take up a decent amount of time to get the track in and then finish setting the steel - they can't multi-task very well doing it that way. They can at least work on the interior and exterior at the same time by getting the steel set first.

Has there ever been any confirmation as to who is providing the coaster components? I think the assumption is it will be Vekoma since they have number most of the recent Disney coasters.

It amazes me.....

They built Dumbo smack dab in the middle of the park, and 3 sides are a green warehouse, partially obscured by trees.

While at the same time, they spent probably an extra $50-100,000 on faux rock "canopies" to the east of LM to carry the theme over the new access gate (between LM and the tents) and yet another section just to block the view of the LM show building when looking between the two circus tents, which already have a tree between them.

They spent a LOT of money blocking two minor lines of sight, while simultaneously putting a green box in the middle of the park, viewable from other attractions and walkways.

I'm VERY glad they went this extra mile on LM, because I'm a huge proponent of masking sight lines....but it just boggled my mind when I try to follow their logic.

I'm going to hope its because they know the speedway is leaving and whatever takes its place will hide the dumbo building.

When they first designed the Double Dumbo building, back when Pixie Hollow was still on the map, Dumbo was supposed to go where the Red and Yellow circus tents are going in now, and the back half of the queue would have been out of sight, but when they relocated Dumbo they just never changed the building design.

I agree it's kind of an odd choice, but the trees seem to do the trick, and I guess planting trees is easier and cheaper than redesigning the building

Good point. Forgot about the relocate. Still glad they spent the money on masking the LM.

Perhaps they have a long range plan that will hide the Dumbo building they are not yet ready to reveal.

That is one explanation.

Not sure if you noticed but there is some interesting construction attached to the IaSW building where they are adding the Tangled stuff. I find that puzzling and curious. Something is afoot.

Isn't that just the new bathrooms which have a Tangled theme? I think it's been pretty well documented that this is going on and will just be bathrooms with theming and an additional pathway to Liberty Square. The only question that is going around is whether there will be a Tangled M&G in the area as well, though space hasn't been specific allocated for it (i.e. it would have to be an outdoor one).

Or is there something more that you know/suspect?

No the construction I am seeing appears to be connected to IaSW. The bathrooms are across the small plaza and connected to the HM complex.

Can you draw on one of the photos and upload it? If you can show me what you're talking about, I might be able to explain it.

I think Lee aready did. The angle creates a bit of of an optical illusion. Thanks though.

Heh. Ironic. The map used to explain it is the one I created :p

In Scott's pic, it does sort of look like they're building something on IaSW, but it's really just a very oddly shaped building. And it appears they've walled off an emergency exit path through the jobsite too. Hadn't seen that before.

Looks like they're starting on one of the circular entrance to the women's restroom. You can see the round-ish concrete formwork just below the red-framed men's RR building, to the left of that little Bobcat.

Wasn't IaSW originally built with the capability of supporting the Matterhorn? I Thought early plans were to put it back there partially resting on IaSW. I'm not saying that is what is happening there now but obviously the building can support additional structure on top of it due to that pre-planning.

I had never heard this, but it's a cool concept.
