Journey To Center of Earth Rumor!!

According to another internet rumor site (not JH, Screamscape), there are multiple rumors circulating that a clone of Disney Seas' Journey To The Center of the Earth will begin groundbreaking at Animal Kingdom in the spring, 2005!

Rumor is certainly rumor, but if this is true, that would be an amazing second addition to AK (along with EE). If true, it sounds like management wants to make AK more than a 1/2 day park.

I'll believe it when I see it...

We had to go two times to AK to see it all. I don't know what you all do in the park, but it is not a only 1/2 day park.

It depends on if you can watch animals for 5 minutes or so instead of walking by.

But it sounds logical that they start building a new attraction this year, opening in 2008 or 2009?

Another problem rising is... Al these investments can only return money in a park that has several openinghours a day less then the other parks.

Isn't it time to make a part of AK that can be opened till the evening?

what's cheaper, close a park , not to pay electricity and CM's, or keep it open till the evening and get income from merch. and food. The ticketprice is the same...

Although many guests (like myself) linger over watching and interacting with the animals, conventional wisdom (acknowledged by Disney in their vacation planning marketing materials and discussions with CMs) is that AK is not a full-day park. It has less "attractions" than the other major parks, which is why it closes in the afternoon. It certainly needs more e-ticket experiences to keep people in the park longer.

it my favorite rumor. I would love to see this attraction mainly because i'm never going to have an opportunity to see Japan or disney sea. Its a reat park to put it in too. i never thought AK was a 1/2 day park but that is more how i feel about mgm. crossing my fingers though.

The problem is the parks animal exhibits (the 2 treks and KS) close at sunset, so on days like this Friday, when the park is open until 8pm, and the animal exhibits close at 5pm, what is there really to do in the park that would not have already been done throughout the day.

The park's ultimate goal is most likely to become a "2 meal" park.....that is a park where people will be there long enough to eat both lunch and dinner......doing so would drastically increase the parks revenue.

It is going to take a lot more than just Everest to make this happen.

For AK to become a '2 meal' park, they will need to open more restaraunts also. I really enjoy this park and usually visit twice during a stay, but neither visit is for a full day. Even if they don't add several "thrill" rides, they could expand on their shows. FotLK and TR are great shows and I believe they have available material to create more shows.

They do have a couple lunch-food stands that are rarely open, like the friend rice stand in Asia. They really don't need too many more restaurants....the 4 that they have a pretty dead except at peak meal hours.....go in any of them at 3:30, you will be eating alone.

I like this rumor because the idea sounds cool...but how in the world does it fit in Animal Kingdom?

At least this would save me from having to go all the way to Paris for some Jules Verne-coolness.

I'm just curious if Rainforest Cafe has a contract as the exclusive sit-down restaurant for AK. AK certainly could use more table service restaurants if it is to become a full day park. I can go to a Rainforest Cafe at any number of malls around the country, so I really consider AK as having no real table service restaurants. This is one area where AK is lacking comapred to the other parks.

So if DIsney can make AK a "2 meal" park, can they add any table service restaurants?

Not sure, but the counter service offerings at DAK are far betetr than the other parks.

I had read something that said Rainforest was not too happy with that location due to the lack of dinner guests....since most people leave the park after the 4pm parade.....they don't stay for dinner.

I would think Rainforest would throw a fit if DAK attempted to add another table-service outlet prior to them getting what they feel to be ideal customer numbers.

Then again what does it really have to do with the Sea Theme of TDS? :D
I agree I just want this attraction. I may not quite remember this correctly but didn't Lee mention that they may put up all of Prometheus including 20K?
Again I could be wrong but wouldn't that would be sweet!

Hate to beat a dead horse, but, The money spent on JTCOTE could easily be filtered to beginning Beastly kingdom instead.

But what would be so great about Beastly Kingdom......is that going to put DAK "over the top"?

A rollercoaster (which they are already building) and a maze :snore: ......to me, Beastly Kingdom always seems like a lot of style, with not a lot of substance.

if they extend the hours of the park, which after EE they should i can see them adding another sit down. something like Jiko and boma would be a great addition. then maybe make something totally new for asia.

Why can't this be the centerpiece for beastly kingdom? The animals in the glowing mushroom cave and the lava beast at the end of the ride would qualify this ride for fantasy animals as much as the yeti and other animal attractions qualify EE for Asia.

Good point. I would gladly wish this to be so. It would make no sense to only include one new attraction to try and keep guests there after hours. Multiple forms would be necessary in order to do this.

Personally, I think that with the arrival of Everest, the Beastly kingdom idea is dead.

Why would they build an attraction (whose focal point is a mystical animal) and put it in Asia?

If imagineering was still serious about doing Beastly kingdom, they would have kept the other lands full of attractions with "real" animals. Face it people. Beastly Kingdom is alive only in Everest.

I think we'll see Austrailia before we ever see Beastly.
