Journey to Atlantis rehab

I love this ride. I remember riding it for the first time and loving it because of the hybrid technology. I wish WDW would get a ride like this in the parks (Bald Mountain maybe?).

Yeah, great ride, the roller coaster bit is short but awesome!

Thanks for the info.

That part's a lot longer here in CA, but trust me, FL got the better end of the deal with the whole indoor section. :p

I was there and rode it for the first time on Feb 2nd. Glad it wasn't under rehab while we were there. That was one of the most awesome water rides I've ever been on! Full of surprises and totally exceeded my expecations for a Sea World ride.

Does anyone here understand what they are actually saying in the ride ?

I'm definetely going to have to get to CA when I'm older and experience the slightly different rides over there! Does CA not go indoors? Or do you just mean the roller coaster bit?

The `water lift` at San Diego looks great - is it as good in real life, or do you feel like in a regular lift?

You`re right - there appears to be a lot more coaster track on the West Coast, but I do like the indoor feel of Orlando. And as Laura said (I think about Orlando) the first time we rode it, not knowing anything about the ride, when it first mounted the tracks after the first climb we both went `WOW`!
It put Sea World up a notch in my estimation too.

The water lift is probably the most innovative part of the ride here. It looks fairly fakey (very obvious movie on the sides) but it's kinda cool cause it doesn't just go straight up - it kind of rocks back and forth as it moves up.

I'd much rather have the indoor part. People here just seem really disappointed by Journey to Atlantis, and I don't blame them. It's was pretty over-hyped. In fact, I think the best part of the ride isn't actually ON the ride, but rather as you get off the ride and there's an exhibit with the cute little Commerson's dolphins. :)

The ride looks great, looks like they ran out of money for theming! The great think about Orlando is that the roller coaster part is ridden, I had no idea about it before riding! They should really try and improve the theming and box it in, and make what looks like a great ride, that much better!

Yup, I agree wholeheartedly! I think JTA here suffered some nasty budget cuts, and that was the issue. Long story short, it was suposed to be built ages ago. Whiny city council member starts complaining about the proposal, and it drags through years of city council deliberation, and finally just opened last May. Gah.

No offense to anyone, but from the video I saw, but JTA over in California looks like a cheap amusement park ride. There's really nothing to it except the drop and a little roller coaster track at the end. It looks like a Six Flags ride.

None taken. I work there and I feel the same way. I went on it a few times during employee previews, and haven't bothered to go on it since.

Is JTA completely different in California then Orlando's? I thought Orlando's was well done. While it isn't as ornate as Splash Mountain, the coaster part of the ride is different.

It's very different, yes. I really loved Orlando's version, but CA's is stripped of the elements that made Orlando's so great - the indoor effects and such. IMHO, they could have skipped the whole ride part here in CA and just built the Commerson's exhibit and I would have been happier.

It's fun to ride, don't get me wrong. But it's not incredibly thrilling, the theming is virtually non-existant, and the storyline (well planned, actually) is nearly impossible to follow due to the bad design.

Blimey, I thought it had been open as long as Orlando's. Why were the city council interfering in the theme park? I like this thread :)
