Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

Just my two-cents, but what would be so wrong with placing this themed water feature someplace like here, just outside the Great Ceremonial House at Poly, where the old cascade / falls area used to be?

Not sure if that'd be enough space for what the area would require, but as far as theme and story goes, Poly fits like a glove.

As far as the potential goes to generate more revenue, a nicely themed water feature sounds fun, and something I'm looking forward to experiencing while at Epcot, but it's not something I can see too many people planning more days at the park, spending more, and so on, just because of that. An E-ticket, sure. But not that. It's a nice plus to experience while there, not a vacation game-changer as far as planning days go.

But, if it was a new feature added to a resort, people who might have never, or never planned to tour the grounds possibly could decide to do a side-trip to Poly to check out the new feature some afternoon, dine, shop while there, or be inspired to splurge and book their next trip staying there.

Theme-wise, this thing is screaming Poly. But like I said in another post, the product sounds nice. The location is what I'm iffy about, but not enough to lose any sleep over it. It is what it is.

Considering there's not a whole lot for younger kids at Epcot I can see this being fun for them.

I am done contemplating Epcots Identity Crisis. Everything changes. A good example look at what tv stations like A&E and TLC were like 20 years ago.

Change is inevitable... including Iger and Chapek. So you have to wonder if their successors will be so reliant on IP in the parks?

Can I just be happy that I won’t have schlup myself all the way back to the breezeway after riding Nemo to then head back to Test Track (which I almost always do on EMH nights). I’m always happy to have more paths to choose from.
More means of travel, including through a bit of air conditioning, could have been added without abandoning crafted spatial organization.

It's not even about the popularity of Moana...And for the record I thought it was beautiful. I think this new water feature is very beautiful in it's concept art stage... My problem with it stems more from it's location making no sense at all. It looks and feels like Adventureland... It feels like it was designed for Animal Kingdom.... It does not jive well with a futuristic Sphere, Modernistic architecture and plazas which is what you are walking past at that moment you see it...and at the end of the water feature is another futuristic , modern Living Seas building...which also doesn't really seem to jive well with the rustic Polynesian vibe of the water feature... I am, at this point, not understanding the design direction for the new park... I am not predisposed to hating anything...I DO feel the the original design of the park was beautiful...well designed and inspiring... This new direction baffles me...
It’s filler. They had space in a location they found awkward and needed to fill it. That describes the entire Epcot redo, really. It’s a paper written by a college freshman who didn’t do the reading and tries to pad the essay with meaningless words and circular logic.

The most telling part of this redesign; right now, Epcot has four huge, underused, Ill-defined, usually empty indoor spaces; Odyssey, Millenium Tent, WoL, and Communicore. At the end of the redo, Epcot will have four huge, underused, Ill-defined, usually empty indoor spaces and will have spent millions to reconfigure three of them.

Epcot's theme has always been "inspiration."

Old school Epcot handled it with real world science/history. Almost like a science museum taken up to 11 with incredible attractions. Some thought it was a bit boring. Some thought it was amazing in all regards. Everyone can agree it was unique and one of a kind.

But not everyone responded to it. Real world science was tough to keeo up with. History lessons weren't as entertaining to everyone (even if they were incredibly well done). So, they started watering it down.

Sometimes it was still really effective (Circle of Life, 3 Cabelleros, Test Track, Soarin, Mission Space) even if its debatable how many are more effective at inspiring or being entertaining than what came before. Others were still fun if not really inspiring (Frozen, Nemo).

New Epcot still had the theme of Inspiration. It uses Disney IP to do that and be more entertaining to more people. .

Moana will be a fun, pretty water feature and/or play area. It will, presumably, try to inspire people to care about oceans or the water cycle. Using Disney IP to inspire people in a fun way.

That's like saying the Casey Jr water play area in the Magic Kingdom teaches people about the history of Trains and their socio-economic impact on the world...lol

Is there no imagination here?

Maybe if it’s about the life cycle of water, it connects the future to the past.

Side note: is Moana even the past? I don’t know when it took place. Not everything in the future is metal and computers all over the world.

Except we don't even know what this fully consists of yet. If it acts as a replacement to the old Living Seas preshow of sorts ("The Deluge"), but in a walk-through form, then it very well could be a learning experience. There must be something unique enough about it for it to have a spiffy new icon whereas it appears the new Festival Center or new Fountain of Nations do not get this distinction.

If the Haunted Mansion had originally been built as a walk-through instead of a dark ride, would it not be deserving of being called an attraction?
