"Journey Into Imagination" Question

This may be an odd question, but I figured this would be as good a place as any to ask it. :)

I was all of maybe 12 years old when my family went down for the WDW "15 Years" party. At that time, I believe EPCOT was the "new kid on the block," so to speak. Since we were down on a press junket, my dad, my mom, my brother and I made sure to ride as many rides as possible in EPCOT so Dad would have lots to write about.

The one we wound up going on over and over was "Journey Into Imagination." We all loved it. When we were there, the queue area and at least the first half of the ride itself had the scent of rosewater. To this very day, whenever I smell rosewater, I think of an opalescent carousel and a little purple dragon, and I hear the song, "One Little Spark."

My question is, if anyone knows, why was that area scented with rosewater? None of my family noticed that scent anywhere else in EPCOT. It's one of my strongest "scent memories" because of that trip...not that I mind. I just wondered - why rosewater? And, I suppose...does the ride still smell like that?

As for the first part of your question I have no idea, but while JIYI version 3.0 doesn't have the scent of rosewater, it does have one part where your blasted with the stentch of skunk.

first, welcome to the boards from another Birminghamian, it is always nice to see things like this.........................

secondly, "paging Grizz, paging General Grizz........... we have a JIYI question that needs some expert answers"

im sure he will be able to answer your question, after all, he is the Grizz probably hunkering down for hibernation though, hope you can catch him.

That is a good question, I often wondered that myself. I would assume it had something to do with triggering the use of your imagination. There has got to be some scientific explination behind it. I would agree Grizz would more than likely know the answer to this.

Oooh! Journey into Imagination question!

Imaaaaaaaaaaagination. . .

To answer your question, in the Dreamport segment of the original attraction, there was a giant perfume bottle right at the entrance to the Work of Art section that sprayed a fragrance called "Morning Mist." The entire pavilion took the smell of perfume -- one of the best alltime smellitzers at Walt Disney World history in my opinion.

Now, the Imagination! pavilion smells like stinkbug. Now isn't that just charming?

You beat me to the punch. I was gonna say that the smell was kind of fitting to the pavillion as a whole, it all stinks.

Well, poo...I'll miss my rose scents...and it is kinda sad about Dreamfinder's exodus.

Of course, given that I'm also a Monty Python fan, I was rather amused, to say the least, when I found out that they'd teamed Figment up with Eric Idle.

ah yes, i have always dreamed of the day, when i could be on JIYI a few cars behind Eisner and somehow through the wonderful world of Disney Magic, Eric Idle would turn to him and say, "I fart in your general direction", and then carry on with the normal speil.

twisted, i know.......... but funny. so much for wishful thinking. lol

Jiyi

I remember JIYI from the first time I went in 3rd grade( I'm 23 now!). We've gone every other year since but it has not been the same since JIYI changed. That was my fondest memory of WDW-Epcot back then. I guess change is usually better!

That is funny. When I was a little kid, I absolutly hated Journey into Imagination with a passion. Dreamfinder though was awsome. I thought he was a pimp (well not really, I just mean he was really awsome).
